Since NFL has re-implemented the 2020 injured reserve rules, Callaway and the other injured players could still be with the team if they clear waivers.

If Callaway was playing well before his injury, he may not be leaving unless another team claims him, which may be unlikely, because of the medical.

Chiefs do have a lot of WRs at the back end of the roster that are decent Special Team contributors, but as far as Callaway being with the Chiefs for the whole season, being in this first cut from 90 to 85 as an injured player is better news for Callaway.

Im trying to figure out why everyone is saying Gray looked bad.

He had that one drop on a throw that was slightly behind him, but other than that, wtf did he do to have people saying he looked "awful"?

Words mean things. "Awful" just because he dropped a pass in his first ever NFL action? Or did i miss something else?

My belief is they want Fortson to be good so badlt, that they almost want Gray to be bad. Some people dont want to face the reality that is Fortson. He is like the Demone Harris of the offense except Harris has made it on the active roster and is clawing against Tim Ward and Kaindoh to stay there, while fortson is on the outside looking in.

Kidding but I’m with you. I will always have a soft spot for Marcus Kemp. To bad he blew out his knee a couple years ago and I’m glad he’s rebounded from that. Carved out an above average length of stay in the NFL career.

They are not cutting Gray... If they keep 4 TE's then the FB will be gone and Bell will fill the H back role. Kemp is also good on special teams, I would be shocked if they cut him for Fountain. The next game will show a lot, if Powell isn't showing much, hopefully we will put him on the PS and take our chances. Veach doesn't strike me as someone to vain to admit that a player may not work out.

The NFL changed the IR rules last year and have extended the same rules for this year, BUT...

A popular amendment to roster rules is back for another year.

In a Tuesday memo, the NFL notified all teams that they are permitted to have unlimited players return from the injured reserve list for the 2021 season after missing three games, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported. Only players on the 53-man roster after Sept. 1 are eligible to be designated for return from IR or the non-football injury list, Pelissero added.

These modifications were first put into effect before the 2020 season to offer more roster flexibility amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously, just two players per team were allowed to return to action after being placed on IR, and only after they'd missed eight games.

Callaway being on IR now, would not be allowed to come back.

Thanks for the information. I still would not be surprised if there is chance for him to be on Chiefs practice squad if not picked up by anybody else.

A couple of guys would have to be hurt for him to make Chiefs roster, but I would not be surprised if he stays around or get signed by a team that has injuries at WR, if he heals up.

Chiefs have a lot of backup WRs that Toub trusts on Special Teams and that Mahomes has some trust in as well.

I guess Calloway has reverted "back to the Chiefs IR list"...so he's still with the team?

*Denotes a player who was waived with an injury designation and has reverted back to the team's injured reserve list.
