Why did the clock stop after the Williams catch?

Was there any explanation for this?

Yep. No conspiracy. They really are just awful.

You want to know why we don't see great teams get stuck with plays like this? Cause most of them don't give the Chargers the ball back to begin with. But we just don't step on teams throats.

Yes they did. He got touched when catching it. He was clearly in bounds the whole time.

He was airborne when they touched him, but not when he was down. The ref ruled it live, ie not tackled, until he put his hand out of bounds getting up.

Just saw the replay. It was a bad call to stop the clock, without question. Williams pushed off on Ward too, which created the separation. Refs just decided to overlook that POTENTIALLY PIVOTAL PLAY because reasons I guess. Ratings?

That doesn't matter. If he is touched during the catch and lands in bounds he is down. You are plain wrong here.

In college he is down, in the NFL he has to be touched.

On ESPN after the game they just said "mistake by the refs."

No, he was touched while he was down on the ground.

Looked to me like he was down by contact well before going out of bounds. I kept wondering why the clock stopped.

There was at least three times I saw the play clock hit 0 before the center snap the ball to Philip Rivers.

I made notes of it in GDT
