Thoughts on the new kickoff rules

Mine so far:

Butker shorting kicks is like driving a Corvette on a gravel road

The NFL made something so simple-so confusing

Going into the season with the attitude of "We will just have to see what happens. There are scenarios we have not thought of yet" is the stupid thing I have heard in football. It would not be a good business plan, or educational plan. But but it seems that is how everything is approached today.

Roast away.

It doesn’t benefit us. That 4th and 15 proposal alternative to the onside kick would have though.

Yes it does. The average starting position will be around the 35. When the Chiefs started there, they scored 75% of the time.

NFL teams should have hired XFL and UFL coaches with experience in it.

Just wait until the first fumble as a result of the increased kickoff returns.

That's like being against the forward pass and being like "just wait until the first interception!"

I can understand just wanting to get rid of the kickoff entirely but the people who want to go back to the old system make no sense to me. I'll take anything over what was essentially a non-play 75% of the time last year.

Hate it! It's a convoluted bunch of crap. And why are these super rich dudes so stupid?

From last year just move the kick spot back 5 yards, Let the kicking team line up where they did last year with the receiving team lining up 5 yards off the defenders. Kick it and play ball!

More returns=more fumbles=less possessions with Mahomes involved

Don’t think it is particularly difficult to understand why I don’t like it.

It feels like such a liability. I'm in favor of Butker drilling through the back of the end zone.

Personally not a fan at all. I am more than ok with touchbacks and the new kickoff seems like if you break past the first few guys you’re gone. Worried there will be more injuries because of it.

I HATE everything about the onside kick rule

Yes. We may never lose again if that is implemented. Mahomes is the best QB....ever...and it isnt even close...on 3rd and long and 4th and long.

Id just kick it through the back of the endzone. Not much difference in the opponent starting at the 25 vs starting at the 30.

Complicated new rules causing new controversies in the post season?

I'm shocked I tell you.

And it hasn't happened, yet.

Just get rid of the damn kickoff and be done with it.
