While he and the rest of the crowd are standing outside waiting to get in, both Robert and Michael Sweet came out and greeted the whole line, shaking hands and saying hello etc |

They were my first concert back in the 80s... some band named Bon Jovi opened for them. Isn't that strange to imagine now?

Holy shit, I saw that tour too. Bon Jovi opened because they had just released the 7800 degrees Fahrenheit album. I saw it at Hammons Student Center in Springfield. Some people were throwing lighters on the stage and Pearcy stopped the show and told the crowd to kick the ass of the next person to throw something on stage.

I was early 13-14 years old, and my dad sat up in the stands and watched, we were down on the floor. My best friend and I mowed yards for a month to get enough money for tickets, shirts and gas for my dad to drive. That was his lone request, we pay the gas for him to drive us to LR. |

Ratt was one of the first (or was it the first?) concerts I ever attended. It was Ratt and Poison at the Expocenter in Topeka. Warren DeMartini was pretty damn good. I haven't really listened to that music in years, though. This one was always one of my favorite Ratt tunes. Love that main riff.
Obviously, that music was good but it was still glam rock or glam metal. Much of the glam name comes from the outfits. Also, nearly all their songs were about love and/or sex. A lot of people slam that style and make fun of people who listened to it. It was fans of Metallica/Megadeth/Iron Maiden, etc. vs the fans of glam metal. Perhaps I was one of the unusual ones but I liked both of them, for a time anyway. I will say that I have continued listening to stuff like Metallica and Megadeth over the years but no longer care much for stuff like Poison or Def Leopard (after their first 2 or 3 albums). Since we never heard of Ron Hobi- we just thought that was his name until years later, Bon Jovi came on MTV. My friends were like-"hey its Ron Hobi-I guess they changed their dumb name to an even dumber one." I have seen Ratt many times over the years- pretty solid band. I never liked how Pearcy would not sing the whole song- but hold the mic out for the audience to sing it. Watching that first video-I guess he still does it. Sad end to Robin but Carlos is a great player and more than fills in. |
