I have cut the cord, How to watch the games.

I have cut the cord because only watch TV for the Chiefs. A long time ago my locals worked in the city. +25 years ago based upon litigation my locals are now Topeka, which is considered not to be KC market. I could though, through CBS NBC ABC, get the games unless they were on prime, peacock, NFL network. But again the only reason I sign up for cable was to watch the games.

Years ago I queried the CP about streaming. Most the comments were negative.

If the games are shown on prime/peacock/NFL network, in theory about 6 to 8 games you will need those services. In the future how many more alternate platforms will NFL choose.

Therefore I ask the CP how best to watch games? Without cable/DirecTV/dish network.

One answer I understand as possible, YouTube TV. I've not very much experience with that. Additionally I believe it costs around 80 or $90 a month. But again, I would only use it to watch the Chiefs.

A friend of mine offered an alternative called VONWIK. From what I understand, they allow 23,000 channels, possibly a Canadian company?, That would allow me to watch the games. This cost $15 a month. Again with 23,000 channels. Also you can't PAUSE/RECORD the game. Dunno. My friend is going to test it again this weekend.

He stated Sunday ticket will show all the games, but he found Chiefs games were blacked out. Don't know.

With the advent of newer and newer technology every year, is there some way to watch the games at a reasonable price. I don't watch TV except for the games.

What say you CP members as ideas?

I think I had a booster way back when. I am sure tech has changed a bunch since then. I had a huge ant back when. Got rid of, since it was worthless with advent of dish. Also, my TV tower is used for my business sat.

So so worth it
Are these LIVE games or replays only?

No blackouts?
ALL games?
Playoffs too?
Do the other streaming services like Peacock affect coverage or block certain games?

I'm not streaming this year. No longer good.

This sounds simple.

Interesting that Topeka doesn't play the games. My parents watch all of the games, including preseason, on Springfield, MO locals. I get all of the games, including the preseason games, in Rogers, AR.

Also, you probably just need a good antenna and amplifier attached to a pole on your house. My parents live 60 miles from Springfield and get great antenna reception.

Another option is Plex. I bought a lifetime subscription and a USB TV tuner and setup a Plex server at my parents house. I can stream all of the local channels, record to the server, and stream anything that I have in the server from anywhere that I have internet. Plex is available on most of not all Smart TV's and streaming devices. I'm going to be on a trip to Alaska over opening weekend. I'll be able to login to Plex and watch the game from my hotel room if I want to

Here in SWMO we get all games via local channels, including preseason. It would suck to search 4-7 platforms just to watch the games.

Can’t believe Topeka is not local to KC. Seems odd.

Go-to: 720p stream (have to plow through 3 to 4 redirects when you first pull it up, then you're gucci)

Backup: Streameast The reason this was my backup was because the quality wasn't as good as 720p stream, but it looks like the quality has improved this season.

I feel like the answer is no

You need out of market games, and for that you need NFL Sunday ticket
You need Prime Video for Thursday night games
For primetime games, you can utilize an over the air antenna for the most part, but you need ESPN for Monday night football

If an NFL Sunday ticket game is available on a local channel, it will be blacked out on Sunday ticket

For me, because over the air antennas suck, I would need YouTube TV, prime video NFL Sunday tickets

CBS shows the Chiefs in Topeka. He's west by what appears 30 miles or so. Maple Hill/Alma, something like that. Can't believe the Channel 13 signal is so weak he can't get it.

Has anyone checked into that Vonwik?

My friend will report back to me on Monday. Streams all games but no playback/pause etc for $15/month. I really haven't looked into it yet.

32 years, thirty TWO years in tech and you can't figure out or understand how to watch NFL games. Your AOL friends would be disappointed that you can't ICON it.
