Pawning off my Epiphone Les Paul and not getting it back then I figured if I wasn't gonna be a rock star I'd drink like a rock star.

Regrets? I've had a few.
But then again, too few to mention. Dinny |

Just a few:
1. When my Mom was diagnosed with terminal lung and brain cancer I should have bought a plane ticket to Europe immediately to take her there before she passed. Diagnosed in Nov 2001-died Feb 2002. She always wanted to see Europe and loved looking at my photos of my trips there. 2. My complete and utter waste of money my entire life. I spend money like 10 drunken sailors and if I have $500 left to my name, I'll spend $499.99 on a great meal with drinks, a fantastic cigar and an escort. In the last 20-25 years I have sadly spent minimum $475,000- $600,000 eating, drinking, gambling, whoring, cigars, golf and travel. Yes, I have enjoyed it but I'm paying the price now for my frivolity. 3. I passed up an opportunity to play a single hole of golf with Jack Nicklaus around 1990 or 1991 at the Dean Witter Memorial Tournament in Columbus OH. My buddy and I both worked for Dean Witter and we drove out from NJ to go to the event. Had hospitality tickets and the CEO at the time James Higgins, spoke with me at length about which office we were from, were we havign a good time etc. Then he said to me, "you guy's drove all the way here from Jersey?" I said yes and he said "well if you have your clubs with you why not stay an extra day and play a hole tomorrow with Jack Nicklaus. We all are." Sadly my buddy had to get back to NJ and his GF at the time needed him. He married her and they are still happily married to this day. He is now living in Florida and is a SVP at Raymond James. 4. Lastly, I'm sorry I never learned anything mechanical related to fixing a car. I couldn't change the oil if you gave me all the tools and a "How-To" book. Really wish I had the skills because you can always save a lot of money for yourself but you can also have a side hustle or job making big bucks today fixing cars. Hard to call it a regret, maybe choice... I chose to go a certain direction home and was involved in an accident. Well, another car rear ended the one I was driving. Messed up my neck really bad. Loss of feeling and strength in my arms and hands and the latest is a paralyzed diaphragm on the left side. That was in 1992.
Can't undo what is done, was told that spinal fusion was an option and that there was no guarantee that I would be better and a distinct possibility that I would be worse. Or maybe not trying harder to get my father to quit smoking. Lost him just when I was getting old enough to appreciate him. That was in 1982. Life goes on, does no good to dwell on the past. That's where depression comes from and can't worry about the future or anxiety results. Live today because that's all we got. |
