A Covid vaccine should be "pretty effective" at least compared to the flu since its mutation rate is half of the flu. Me speaking as a layman. It seems like it is IMPERATIVE for everyone to get it for us to have the maximum effectiveness and really control it in our population but perhaps it will just always be with us from now on? Id be interested in hearing experts analysis on the mutation rate of other viruses that vaccines have virtually stamped out compared to Covid19.

Layman's opinion here but I believe over time it'll weaken and we'll deal with it every winter like we do with seasonal influenza.

While the efficiency of the flu vaccine tends to go down the older you get, I'm a little worried the vaccine won't be very effective for the ppl it matters the most. However, I would imagine if 99% of the population got the flu shot every year the flu as we know it would be super super rare to contract even despite it only being quasi effective.

It'd have to be made somewhat clear to me that case severity is related to being in contact with an intense viral load before I'd have that view.

I don't think the current IFR is 2.96%, doc. I believe it is about .65%

No need to make things up. Or maybe there is.

Do you dispute the CDC best estimate, or not? If you do, present why you think so.

The actual death rate is nowhere close to 2.96%. It's miniscule.

Btw, if this thread is actually kept non-political, there would be nothing to discuss but the latest flu outbreak.
