*****The Patrick Mahomes Thread*****

IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

Sometimes I'm really bad at reading sarcasm, so if this is sarcasm, my apologies, but slide on 4th and goal??

100% sarcasm on my part. I'm riffing on the other thread where Bayless and some dipshit nobody named Van Valkenburg claimed that Niners defenders pulled up on Mahomes' 33-yard run near the sidelines.

Mustapha had the perfect opportunity to lower his shoulder and smoke Mahomes on that 4th & 1. What happened? What's the excuse this time? Bad angle? He slipped? Thought he was going to pass?

Yep, I figured it had to be. It was just too stupid to be said by a CP poster without sarcasm.

I'm gonna say there was some luck involved. Mahomes in the after game presser said he wasn't trying to lower the shoulder, just absorb the first blow and sneak in.

My guess is that Mustafa had a slightly bad angle and was in the perfect position for Mahomes' shoulder to hit him square.

That was a perfect example of old school coach-speak in action. And you're GONNA see that in practice tapes for HS and College players.

"Be the hammer or you'll be the nail..."

Mustafa was hitting dudes HARD the whole game. Coming downfield aggressively and smoking dudes.

On that play, since the game sure looked over, he didn't come in hot. He came in a little high and almost like he didn't think there was really a shot to prevent the TD so he didn't stay at 100%.

And got his ass posterized. And ultimately he may have been right - had he hit PM at 110%, Patrick probably still gets in. But it looked to me like Mustafa didn't play through the whistle at 100% and he got wrecked because of it.

Be the hammer or you'll be the nail.

His mechanics still aren't there. The pocket presence was better at least. I think he's close to figuring it out. Not that there was any doubt.

It reminds me of the Atwater hit on Okoye. The safety's feet weren't planted, and he was taking a step when the collision happened, but Mahomes had braced and lowered his shoulder at the perfect moment.

However, I like this one so much better than the Okoye hit.

I thought the exact same thing. Okoye was in the air and Atwater hit him with with his feet on the ground so he had leverage against the contact. It looked the same with the Mahomes hit too.

I don't understand how he hasn't become a better deep ball thrower at this point in his career.

I'm just an idiot, but it seems like everything is just so much on a line instead of putting more air under it.

It’s been my biggest issue with him since entering the league, even when he had issues with drifting too far back and bailing from clean pockets.

He is just not a natural deep thrower.

Yeah, most of the QBs in the league manage to hit that Worthy throw, even if they underthrow it by a little bit.

You just can't overthrow him there. That's as bad a miss as you'll see.

You've got the whole side of the field too. Just throw it higher out in front of him. I dunno....I don't get it.
