If the Chiefs were paying Brown with the exact same dollar portion of the salary cap as they paid Watkins back then, they'd be giving him 3/$69M in 2024 dollars. The equivalent of paying him 2024 dollars of 3/48 or 4/64 would be like 3/33 or 4/44 in 2018.

Inflation has hit the NFL too, ya'll. Every tier of receiver is going to cost more.

I'd rather dip in and try to buy a longer-term piece that fits and is an upgrade for his role in the offense NOW than next year, too (after the Chase and Jefferson extensions get done and set a new top of the market).

Great point about Watkins. No one that I can recall ever even complained much about his deal. If Brown gives us 1000 and 1200 with 5 TDs each in years 2 and 3 at $16-18 he is a huge bargain for the team. Also something his agent knows which is why they aren’t going to just lay down for a what we would think is a bargain today on this years team.

That's because they just paid their QB last year. It will come.

Also, Devin White is nothing more than a name at this point.

He was terrible last year.

Kelce and Fletcher Cox retiring also helped their salary cap this offseason as well.

He was so bad Bowles benched him in the DET playoff game. And Devon apparently took himself out of a game last season.

Can you imagine getting him as a 5th overall pick?

He’s a two-down run stuffer at best now.

Devin White is famously one of the players that PFF hates the most.

He posts some of the lowest scores you’ll see. It’s impressive.

He's probably not quite as useful as Reggie Ragland was his last season here.

Damn. I hope they don’t view this years DL room as good enough, especially DT. If Sneed is traded I’d use one of the first three picks on a DL that can play inside.

Also bc I’m a major Brandon Dorlus and Ruke Orhorhoro stan

Loving the thought of us keeping Sneed, AND upgrading WR. We basically bring back the same elite defense, with things getting easier on offense.
