*****The Patrick Mahomes Thread*****

IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

To be fair, they removed the wood-framed television set two weeks ago and installed that flat screen you seen on the wall now. That's progress.

Eisen saying that "Tom Brady to Mahomes is Eli Manning to Brady" is a clip I'll have in my holster for Patriot fans for a long time.

You can see Tom light up when he talks about Pat, and I love that Tom basically openly cheers for Pat, and the AFCCG where we lost due to Dee Ford the story about Tom coming to the Chiefs locker room to console Pat. That was really out of character for Tom.

It's almost like Tom instantly recognized Pat would get the torch and he wanted to welcome that.

I typically avoid listening to talk about the other team in games like this, but there was a tweet claiming that Tom preferred Lamar and thought Tom was really "passing the torch" to him and was a bigger fan of Lamar compared to Mahomes.

I usually don't mind this stuff, but the Lamar glazing on social media is pretty insane.

I find that hard to believe because Tom has openly cheered for Pat pretty much since he retired.

But yeah the Lamar glazing this week has been insane, and I'm so hoping we win this game so everyone can suck it. The hating this week has been insane.

The subtext to Tom cheering on Patrick is that being 2-0 against him in the playoffs means that as successful as Patrick is, it will only add to Tom's legacy every time Patrick wins since Mahomes will always be a Dee Ford away from conquering Tom in the playoffs. It's similar to Larry Bird vs. Jordan in MJ's early career (Bird was 6-0 vs. MJ in the playoffs).

The thing is, Jordan got so, so good in a later era that no one really remembers Bird vs. Jordan as rivals anymore (they exist in separate eras in the minds of fans). I suspect the same thing will happen with Patrick if he continues having elite success throughout his career (he also bagged a critical win against Tom in New England to pave the way for HFA for his first Super Bowl run).
