As likely to lose Thompson as we were to lose Coburn.

I'd cut Herring.

He's just extremely efficient in his movements. It's why he's so good after the catch - he just immediately has that foot in the ground and looking to turn upfield.
That's my favorite part of Rice's game. When he gets the ball in his hands there are no stutter steps or backward movements. Nothing is wasted and he's getting every inch he possibly can as fast as he can.

Nah. I mean Coburn actually got a handful of snaps in the first game and looked like he MIGHT contribute at some point. Nobody thinks Thompson is ready for snaps. Herring is pretty a$$ but he might be of some use keeping guys fresh.

But if you're the Cardinals or some other bottom feeder you don't care if he's ready for snaps now.

Hell, we're the #1 seed in the AFC and we don't care if he's ready for snaps right now. You carry 8 gameday inactives either way.

We're more likely to lose Thompson to a team that sees him as a developmental possibility than we are Herring to a team that sees him as a bullet catcher for 7 snaps/gm.

And if we lose Herring - who cares? Sign some street free agent veteran that can absorb some reps. Whereas Thompson has some legit long-term ability that can still be developed.

The latter is harder to find than the former.

If you need a 4 yard check down he can deliver. Notice Rice is getting plenty of snaps btw.

45/79 still isn't great. That's 57%. Puka Nacua just had 88% with the Rams. Jordan Addison has 97%! There's no reason Rice shouldn't be playing 80-90% of the snaps.

Why is he still getting so many snaps? He's not an NFL caliber WR. Move on already...
