I'm glad Purdy broke out his run game vs the Lions. Good to have that on tape for Spags. Lions had no answer.

Their losing streak was against the AFC North plus the Vikings. They got run on and out physicaled by those AFCN defenses.

Hope to see a healthy dose of Pacheco. When we run well and stay out of third and long it mitigates the weak down field game. Then again I think Rice can go off on their secondary.

This is our 4th SB appearance and I've felt like all of them were 50/50. You only play great teams at this stage. But if I were a fan of another team just observing, you look at what the Chiefs did to shake off the down year (for us) in the regular season, and you look at the QB/HC matchups. You pick the team with the better QB and HC.

Whether they’d admit it or not, every fan of an NFC team wanted the Chiefs to not make the Super Bowl. The last thing they wanted was for the Chiefs to wake up and figure it out.

Mahomes, Reid, and an elite Spags defense is terrifying when the offense isn’t killing itself.

Same thing with Baltimore. They would have preferred to go against Buffalo instead of Kansas City. Lamar gave that funny but true answer. “I don’t like playing the Chiefs.” Good answer Lamar. Very good answer!

Do some think Brock Purdy is a good scrambler now just because the Lions’ defense sucks ass and had the worst collapse in the NFL since the Falcons?

He’s not. He’s one of the least mobile starting QBs in the NFL and a pure pocket passer (and not a particularly good one).

The Chiefs are gonna eat him alive in 2 weeks just like the Ravens did.

Correct. Spags will want to disrupt Purdy and not let him sit there throwing to the superstars around him.

With Lamar (who basically can’t throw a strong accurate ball past 5 yards), he can only hurt you off the ground so you keep him contained at all times there.

He’s not a Mahomes level scrambler, but he’s also not a traditional slow footed pocket passer like Brady & Manning. ESPN graded Purdy’s rushing effectiveness as better than the likes of Jordan Love and CJ Stroud this season. He’s not a total statue like Jared Goff or Tua.

The 49ers OL has one great pass protector and 4 bad ones. Purdy isn’t elusive like Lamar.

Pressure him and trust these DBs to hold up like they have all year.

You can only cover for so long with great receivers, but the 49ers can only pass protect for so long with 4 bad OL against Jones and Karlaftis.

Nobody is as bad as Tua at this point, but he’s very much bottom tier among starting QBs in mobility. Him and guys like Geno Smith/Mac Jones are comparable.

Also, that list is a bit odd to me considering much more mobile QBs (Kyler Murray, Zach Wilson and Trevor Lawrence for just a few examples) are much lower than him so I wonder what it is actually measuring.

Anyway, the last thing on the 49ers offense we are going to be worrying about is Brock Purdy going off and running. He’s welcome to try but SF is gonna want him standing in the pocket as long as possible throwing to Deebo, Aiyuk and Kittle when they aren’t handing it off to CMC.

They’ll get to him, the Ravens and Browns both did.

Best case scenario would of course be getting out to a decent lead so they feel deterred enough to go away from CMC early.

Kyler missed a large chunk of the 2023 season with injury, so I assume his number is deflated by missing games. Kyler was #1 on this list for 2020 and #7 for both 2021 and 2022.

Also Mahomes is above Lamar Jackson in that too? I mean, Mahomes is a top tier scrambler and elite mover still (when he has to be) but Lamar Jackson is one of the best running QBs in league history.

Patrick doesn’t take sacks or negative yardage as often as Lamar. When Mahomes is scrambling, his first down conversion rate is off the charts from a percentage standpoint. He is more picky when he chooses to run compared to other QB’s, which helps him be extremely effective in those plays.

Did CMC **** his neck up on that late run? I’m sure he’ll play no matter what but I was curious what the injury was.

They have 2 good corners. Ward and Lenoir. But Ambry Thomas you can pick on by just throwing at him and he will commit PI penalties. He's in position the majority of the time but just can't help himself. The run defense is a problem though and I blame Wilks mostly for that. I do have a question, Why does your DC never get poached?

We lost Saleh and then we lost Ryans. And will probally lose Wilks, Though this one I will be happy with.
