I'd like to see how many of those 42 solo tackles last year were him gently shoving a receiver out of bounds, or touching a down or already falling receiver. I'm gonna guess about 37. No way he made more than 1 actual solo tackle a game.

Gotta give Scandrick credit. The athleticism is nowhere near what it was at his peak but he's a smart ballplayer that's where he's supposed to be far more often than not.
He's still prone to simply getting beat by physically superior athletes on occasion, but I don't see him going out there and whiffing on assignments. With some of the shaky zone responsibilities we've seen this year, having a guy out there that generally knows where needs to be at any given time is a pretty nice thing to have. Veach deserves credit for eating a few bucks on Amerson and getting this guy in here. |

We ended up paying 500k for Amerson. It wasn't that big of a deal.

He didn't and they cut him. It was a worthwhile move. For every David Amerson they cut there's a guy like Cam Erving that sticks. |

The problem would have been getting through pre-season and not seeing the need for a change there. Because funny enough - Amerson actually looked really good in camp. I was impressed on the day I was out there. But in game action he was obviously ass. Veach didn't buy into the fools gold and he deserves some credit there. |

For the most part, watching the Jags safeties work was a lesson in being smart and "assignment-sound". Our safeties AND Bob Sutton should be forced to spend extra time watching that film.

But the 4th down stop was outstanding. He stayed in to help the OLB in coverage and passed him to the corner at the right time, then drove hard on that underneath route and stuck the receiver just as he looked ready to second effort his way past the sticks. Without Lucas drilling him, he gets that 1st down. Parker seems to be gambling more to make up for lost athleticism and that's killing him because he's evidently a shitty guesser. But Lucas looked pretty solid back there. |

Yes, yes he was, in every single statistical category, including QBR and rating etc... You do remember Rodgers got hurt and before that he wasn't lighting things up averaging 230 yards a game? Maybe if he had played 16 games instead of 7 most likely would have put up numbers to make an argument but he didn't, he was done after week 7. But the facts are the facts, the PFF rating is correct, Smith was a better QB than Rodgers last season. Doesn't mean you want Smith over Rodgers but it supports that their metrics are accurate. |
