The folks here won't listen to facts they believe its science because the WHO and CDC said it. Science doesn't support those masks that can save you from or prevent spreading a virus. It's a feel-good measure that restricts your breathing. staying 15 feet probably better than a particle mask or cotton bandana. |

The writer of the Op-Ed doesn't even seem to know that there are different types of N95 masks. N95 masks with a respiration valve are easier to breathe through, but provide less protection, and are not recommended in sterile fields: "However, respirators with exhalation valves should not be used in situations where a sterile field must be maintained (e.g., during an invasive procedure in an operating or procedure room) because the exhalation valve allows unfiltered exhaled air to escape into the sterile field." https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/npptl/topi...ealthcare.html |

I've read that even the N95 masks do stop particles smaller than .3, it's not like they completely fail at that threshold. But either way it doesn't matter because it can knock down many droplets carrying the virus. |

From all that I've read - the only ways the virus can get aerosolized into particles that small are through singing, loud yelling, or some kind of respirator device like the EMTs used in that Seattle nursing home that blew up very early on.
Normally the virus is in the smaller breath droplets should get filtered out by N95. |
