Peacock exclusive playoff game is stupid

Bad move by the league. Quit being greedy and keeping your customers from watching your product.

Surely they wont put Mahomes in that game but who knows.

The "excludes digital-only" games is a key limitation there. Essentially, they (NFL) can exclude any games they want without notice and tell you to go pay more for some other service.

I ran into some site that won't play the ads unless you have it on the active screen. Usually I can just move the screen to the back and look at stocks or chiefsplanet for 30 seconds, but this site (don't remember what it was) would freeze the advertisement until I brought it back to the front. That window got closed, because whatever I was looking at wasn't that important.

There have been some lawsuits about how misleading online advertising is to the advertiser. Users have a million ways to ignore ads, and the more that sites try to flood their sites with ads, the less attention people pay to them. Half the ads are just trying to get you to go to another site that only wants you there so they can sell ads. The ROI for 99 percent of the ads on the internet is zero, and at some point advertisers are going to wise up. Ads are not sold based on results (purchases), they're sold on exposure, and exposure is worthless for the most part.

Sunday Ticket with Red Zone was $400 this year. It is very specific that it is only for noon and 3 pm games not aired locally so not really any shenanigans. I found it worth it though.

Not sure what problem(s) you guys are having here, because I pirate 90% of the sports (NFL, NHL, UFC, Redzone, Boxing, everything) I watch and never have these problems.

I use Brave browser. Takes less than 2 minutes to download. Knocks out all the redirects and popups. Don't have to deal with them at all. You click on the event, you go directly to the event. I downloaded Brave browser for this specific reason, but I liked it so much compared to the others that I ended up using it for everything else as well. Very easy to import all your bookmarks from Chrome, Firefox, etc. But I have friends who only use it for pirating, so you can do whatever you want. The only reason I even have Chrome still installed is because for some odd reason, the Amazon Prime video format is not supported on Brave.

I have 500 mbps internet speed. $95/mo with Cox in Phoenix metro. Multiple people in my house can be streaming at the same time with zero issues. Perhaps this is why you guys keep having problems with frequent crashing? What is your internet speed? Crashing did happen to me more frequently when I had slower internet.

So I use Brave browser, my internet speed is good, so the only other variable is what streaming websites you're using. My two go-to's are:

1. https://720pstream.nu/
2. https://www.thestreameast.to/v2/

In the EXTREMELY rare event that those aren't stable enough, I go to:

3. https://v2.sportsurge.net/home3/ - sports surge is a website that aggregates tons of streaming sites (crackstream, markystream, etc)

It always surprises me when I hear people talk about not being able to get these streams to work, because I use them completely trouble-free 99% of the time. I love them, especially because on things like the NHL, MLB, and NBA, you can choose the feed you watch. For example, I stream a ton of Avs hockey, and I can listen to the local broadcast with the Avs normal announcers that I became accostomed to when I lived in Colorado.

$400? I had no idea.

I'm glad it's worth it to you. It's worth some amount to me, but not $400. Of course, I have some advantage, though, in that I live in an AFC West city, so Chiefs games are shown here with some frequency, other than games that the NFL has decided to show on peacock or The Hallmark Channel or whatever. Over the past five years where the Chiefs have been a juggernaut, I can get 70 percent of Chiefs games over the air and can go to sports bars for 20 percent. The only games I can't get are the ones that the NFL has sold to CNN27 and North Korea Public Television.

AFAIK, there's still content on ESPN/2 that you can only stream on ESPN+ if you have cable or satellite, but I haven't tried in a while, so could be wrong.

And I'm coming at this from the perspective of anyone who doesn't want to mess with illegal streams or IPTV options. I have access to YTTV (but don't pay for it) and pay for ESPN+ and Hulu ("free" with a cell phone plan), and totally willing to find other streaming options.

But, it's obnoxious to want to be "shut up and take my money" guy to watch sports, yet there are now zero good options now besides "just sign up for these 10 platforms".

It wasn't that long ago I paid ~$90/month for TWC ($130 including internet) and had the sports add on that gave me all the college conference channels, NHLN, CBS Sports, FSN, etc. It was beautiful.
Still have to do that occasionally for KU games. And I had to pull up the KSU game last night for the wife on ESPN+ even though we have YTTV with all of the ESPN networks.

It is mind boggling to say... it is just $6.

How do people not see the relevance of this bullshit.

I don’t use it for Chiefs games. I use it to watch all the others since I’m in KC. So I get more than one game of value as I’ll have four games at once at times going or just choosing a better single game than what is being shown locally. I bet on lots of games and have fantasy interests so that’s how I get the value from it. I think it’s $300 if you have YouTube TV.

And part of that is because of all the rights that keep getting bought by different companies. That didn't used to happen at nearly the level that is going on nowadays. I suppose that may be simply the fact that there are more tv viewing options (more streaming services).

Exactly, $6 is about the price of a POS McDonalds burger anymore.

But as you say, the relevance of this, and it's timing is upsetting.

A wise man once said, the only constant is change, or something like that.

We are so fortunate to have our Chiefs win a couple Super Bowls and appear in 3 recently.

Can you imagine if this happened in the Herm/Pioli era?

The not-legal steams are going to get slammed.

I'm torn. I want to watch a reliable stream which is impossible unless paying, but damn them for going this direction.

Might just have to miss it based on principle.

Not angry, but to answer your question, my basic cable package has both ESPN and NFL network. Almost everyone has access to ESPN and they have broadcast playoff games for years, and even then they will typically simulcast on ABC, so everyone that wants to see them can. I have ESPN+ because I love hockey. It more than pays for itself. My biggest issue is that this is a single Playoff game being shown exclusively on a streaming service very few people have or even need. If Peacock wants an exclusive game give them a mid season shitty matchup similar to what Prime gets for TNF.
Peacock might have gotten more value by having the game shown on NBC and using the 100 million to buy all the advertising spots during the game and promote their service. The whole thing just seems goofy.
