People talk about a LOT with Mahomes, but one thing that gets overlooked is his release. Oh sure, they mention the off platform stuff and his ability to throw from multiple arm angles. But they never seem to mention just how lightning quick that release is.

That 2nd throw to Hardman is just a perfect example. Scanscanscan - DART.

Not sure he recognized that he had a blocker on that outside DB. Gotta figure he expected the CB to close off the sideline and he was just looking to bend and give himself space to make a move.

If he takes it to the sideline and the blocker isn't there, he's hemmed in with few options. At the catch, it looks like the DB has position on Hardman. But truth be told, he was pretty lazy there and let Hardman hook inside him and drive him out of the play.

I think I can see what he was thinking there. EDIT: From the end zone view there's another thought - think of how many times Kelce has cut against his momentum and left a dude holding his jock. He saw that guy in front of him and was maybe trying to do the same thing. He just didn't see James waiting to occupy that space.

The Ol is playing pretty well. Mahomes still needs to trust them more and stay in there. Give guys a chacne to get open.

That one was frustrating. Just keep running and he scores or at the very worst is inside the 2/3 yard line.

When you have that kind of natural velocity, you don't have to 'reach back' to sling it. So you can get it out quicker and since you're not at max effort, with more accuracy.

Never understood the 'arm strength is irrelevant' crowd. It's not dispositive, but having premier arm strength makes a LOT of things easier. It's not just about throwing it farther than anyone else, it's about throwing it easier.

Into smaller windows too. How anybody could watch Herbert or Allen (or Mahomes) and still think velocity doesn’t matter isn’t paying attention.

Absolutely. It would be ****ing devastating if you were playing defense against him.

More importantly is he does the release thing WITH the outside the pocket, off platform shit. You'd think you had this fool and WTF the ball is gone? ****.

It would suck to play against Mahomes. And I'm here for it.

if an average qb tries that, pick six

I know this is a Mahomes thread, and there isn't a bigger Mahomes Stan than your guy Buehler445, but look at the RBs in these plays.

Pacheco absolutely blocks the shit out of the blitzer. It's not a stonewall or anything, but that's a really good block from a RB as long as Mahomes held that. It's not a super pretty pancake block, but goddamn son - Hat tip. No clue if he's getting the reads right, which is what will get Mahomes killed, but that is a hell of a block from a rookie RB.

Then it didn't affect the play but McKinnon is down there setting picks like a forward in basketball . But that's a really smart play if he can **** up a crosser while Mahomes is out doing Mahomes things, that can really impact a play, then releases to an open spot, that's a really smart play.

GODDAMN it's nice having smart players. I've wasted too goddamned much of my life watching dumb****s like those fielded by Squirmin Herman Mother****ing Sack of **** Edwards. Coaching staff deserves prop.
