Great minds and what not.

Ever had a Black Manhattan? I had one for the first time a couple weeks ago. Traditionally they use averna instead of vermouth and use orange bitters. But the place I went to used both vermouth and averna as well as orange and angostura bitters.

Also, I use antica instead of cheap vermouth.

And always up. None of that "on the rocks" shit.

All good information. I have never heard of that. Very interesting and I may look for it.

And I need to up my vermouth game. I use the cheaper stuff and I realize I am bastardizing the drink. I always add both orange and angostura bitter to mine. I usually have mine straight up but will occasionally pour over an ice sphere. The rocks shit just waters it down too quick.

Try spiced cherry bitters. That's my favorite. And if you are going to use cheap vermouth get at least Martini & Rossi. Don't go for that super cheap shit. The better the vermouth the better the cocktail. Olive & Ivy is who turned me onto Antica. They make great Manhattans and their fillets, OMFG. Dude I live in KC which is like the kingdom of steaks and Olive & Ivy's fillet is arguably the best ****ing steak I have ever had.

Sorry for ur loss thats crazy. Almost assuredly had a comorbidity but you never know. Buddy of mine had it from start to finish and had zero symptoms. Perhaps it depends on other Coronaviruses one was exposed to in their youth.

Yes they are my favorite. I use them more than any others. And dump that Gallo crap in the toilet. That's what I started with then I used some real vermouth and life got much better.

And don't be afraid to switch up your whisky. I know standard is to use rye but Elijah Craig and Maker's 46 makes some pretty sweet Manhattys!

Got denied entrance to Circle K last night for not wearing a mask. I totally forgot.

I've since learned that our ordinance comes with an exemption for people whose religious beliefs prevent them from wearing a face covering. So I guess one could just say that and be let right on in.

I get what you are inferring and agree. Also consider that throughout the city, regular old Phoenix people have been out like that too in greater numbers overall. Tempe, Old Towne Scottsdale, Downtown, CASINO's have been business as usual, drawing their signature large crowds. I don't know if the new mask ordinance will affect those popular party areas but me and my friends weren't feeling going out like usual last night due to having to wear a mask.

The largest casino chain here shut down again after a worker died a couple of weeks after returning to work.
