*****The Patrick Mahomes Thread*****

IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

Don't know when the record happened, but could have been before free agency.

That's just a smilin' and dialin' Andy Reid special right there.

Mahomes now ranks number 99 on the ALL-Time Passing leaders' board.

Some day he will be #1

What Montana, and the Niners, did in the 80s/90s was impressive, because they were the first team to win 5 rings in the age of free agency and player movement.

Pittsburgh won 4, but player retention was extremely high, so it was basically the same team for all 4 rings.

The 49ers had a group of core players, but their roster turnover was much higher.

Free agency wasn't a thing until 1993 and the salary cap wasn't a thing until 1995. Montana won 4 rings before those 2 things changed the game forever.

That 1980's San Francisco 20 game streak on the road against division opponents is great/legendary, but it was a completely different game in those days. It's simply not an Apples to Apples comparison with any teams of the last 25 years, given the roster limitations of the modern game.

The only surprising thing to me is that more of those dynasty teams before salary cap and free agency did not pull off some stronger win streaks. Vince Lombardi's Packers and Chuck Noll's Steelers come to mind.

Stacked teams like the 85 Bears, Parcells Giants, 91 Redskins and dynasty Cowboys kept the 49ers from accomplishing more

the 49ers likely win six Super Bowls if not for leonard marshall
