*****The Patrick Mahomes Thread*****

IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

Patrick has done one thing for which I will be forever grateful. Chiefs fans have suffered from a kind of PTSD after years of crap happening to us and we all became unbelievably pessimistic. Our pessimism was fully encapsulated in the phrase "because Chiefs."

Patrick has changed that so thoroughly that I feel very confident even when we fall behind. In fact, I believe the phrase "because Chiefs" is now something that Buffalo fans use in their frustrations with Patrick and the Chiefs.

Thank you Patrick.

Do you guys remember about a third of the way through his first season how we were all trying to understand how he could "bend" the ball in the air with the english he was putting on the spiral?

I'm a homer at heart so I was basically in love after his first start, especially after going back in and saving the day when Bray tried to sell us out. That was such a baller move.

Putting the stadium crowd in the soundtrack and just the sheer jaw-dropping nature of the play sets it apart, IMO.

I remember the touchdown to Sausage because it was a DIME to a fullback. And from the Steelers game he uncorked an absolutely hellacious piss-missile to Kelce.

But the Conley TD against the 49ers was when you knew he wasn't just good and this wasn't just Cam Newton's hot start. This was something completely different and just special.

I was 90% certain we had our guy for the next decade prior to that play but once that happened I closed the book. This was our dude and was on his way to being a champion someday.
That SF play solidified it IMOP, but I knew we definitely had something after I saw the way he put it to the Steelers in Pittsburgh. We were about to blow them out of that stadium before the laundry started flying.

Magnus Effect FTMFW!!!!

EDIT: I actually think we were starting to talk about it after he threw that slider for a touchdown against (I think) the Bengals in the pre-season.

Here it is - that ball tailed armside like he'd thrown a 2-seamer.

EDIT: Well piss off, NFL.

It's the 1:43 mark on the video.

Imagine how Bray felt in that moment. It's like "welp, my careers over".

All that stretching and strengthening of the ankles he does in the off season paid off right here. He could have missed some games.

Yes, it was the Gals. That was the moment I knew something was different. I'd never seen a football do that previously. Honestly, I remember exactly where I was when it happened. It was one of "those" moments for me.
