****Our Wide Receivers Suck- Official Thread****

They can’t get open, they drop passes in their hands, their jet sweeps are slow and terrible. These guys are not good.

It's not that these guys "suck", it's that they can't create on their own. Toney can, but it isn't happening. Rice can. But the Chiefs are still gearing him up.

The only real, consistent playmaker we have right now (aside from an aging, slowing Kelce) is Pacheco.

Imma just go ahead and beat this dead horse ONE MORE TIME, which is WHY i/we were so freakin' pissed when they drafted Moore. As i said two years ago, he's another guy who requires Mahomes to be A+ in order to be effective.

Back to the same argument i made THREE years ago when we still had Hill: We need more players who can create on their own, who can HELP Mahomes, not rely on Mahomes to be a god.

...And here we are....
We have seen Mahomes with Tyreek, and with Tyreek AND Kelce. With high caliber weapons, Mahomes is God Mode.

So, I know it may be irresponsible, but if Veach really is so great at identifying talent others don't see, then let's put a huge package together and move up for Harrison Jr. and let Veach pluck gems out of obscurity for whatever draft picks we actually have after Harrison Jr.

Even with Tony's explosiveness, he is obviously a broke dick who is always going to broke dick, and even if Rice turns into a nice receiver, he isn't in the same category as Tyreek or even Marvin Harrison Jr.

And none of the other receivers on this team will ever be anything other than warm bodies in this offense.

Would it be so bad to make a move like this? Everyone is so confident that Mahomes can drag these sorry receivers to the SB, so why can't he drag a team with no draft to speak of, other than the best WR in the draft, to the SB?

But he could have moved up to get him. Veach was moving around in that draft the entire time.

Everyone has flaws, and even though he is a great GM, possibly the best or 2nd best the Chiefs have ever had, but he CANNOT identity wide received talent. And he has quite a sample size of misses at the position, not only with who he actually picked, but also because of who he didn't draft.

Whatever they hone in on, or value when evaluating receivers needs to change, because what they are doing now does not work.

He is treating the wide received position the way Dorset treated DBs and LBs.

You don’t hit on everyone.

What I don’t understand is why they keep going back to the same dry well. Move on and give someone else a bigger role because I’m not sure Skyy will become a weapon. As the earlier posters have pointed out he still seems to run the wrong routes. There’s a reason why Ross is targeted on 2/3rds of his snaps and Skyy on 5%…

I’d heard that Mahomes targeted him a lot in practice. He’s clearly the secret weapon in Andy’s arsenal. They’ll throw him a few snaps here and there to get him acquainted with the league, but Andy knows they don’t need him for the next several. Reid will release the Ross in Frankfurt and he’ll explode for 150 and 3 TDs. Hill will drop to his knees and sob uncontrollably when he realizes he’s lost the 1 seed and Tua will have to go to Arrowhead in January.

I wonder if the punt returning shattered Skyy's confidence, and now he's just lost because of it.

I also always wonder if Jonathan Baldwin might have had a slightly better career if that incredible behind-the-defender's-back pass wasn't called back.

No and no.

If any of these guys are THAT mentally soft, they ain't long for this league.

Professional sports are exercises in failure. All of them. Every one of these guys will have real real REAL bad days at the office.

If Baldwin's catch not counting is what sunk him, something ELSE would've. And if muffing punts broke Moore - well something else would have done the same.

The guys that make it in this league self-select. They can't stay healthy or they can't grasp a playbook or they can't get out of their own heads.

Oh, give me a break. The Packers had to trade both of their 2s to move up to draft Watson early in the second in a move that many, many viewed as an overpay at the time for an extremely raw player who had a problem with drops in college and couldn’t run any sort of extensive route tree. We would’ve had to trade even more than the Packers did to get him.

And now Veach is being criticized for not overpaying like the Packers did to keep Aaron Rodgers happy. Got it.

Who said anything about overpaying? You are being dramatic. And spending draft capital on a potential weapon for Mahomes to use against the league isn't a bad thing.

Mahomes is the best QB in NFL history, but why treat him like the Packers treated Rodgers? The Packers wasted Rodgers' career by giving him a steady rotation of mostly JAGs around him on offense. Yeah, he had a guy here or there, like Nelson, and Parker at the end, but mostly JAGs.

At this point, Skyy Moore isn't even a JAG, it's becoming obvious that Toney will always either be hurt, or always be the gadget guy (because if you can't shine among these receivers, you're just not sparkly) and Watson is probably at his peak, so that's not promising, and Rice and Ross can't seem to get snaps, because......Reid? Who knows why.

And I love Travis Kelce, but like it or not, he is at the edge of the cliff, and he is going to fall off soon. It's not his fault. He has the heart, but he has already said that last year was the hardest he had been physically beat up, and it's not going to get better.

Mahomes deserves weapons.

You just criticized Veach for not trading up to get Watson. To have traded up and gotten Watson, we would’ve had to overpay given that the Packers had to overpay to get him. Pretty simple, really.

Watson was widely viewed as a huge gamble for them, and through his first 9 NFL games, he looked every bit the bust. I guarantee you the same people complaining about Skyy Moore right now would’ve been doing the same about Watson.

And I’m not defending Moore. I don’t think he’s good. And I’m not saying Mahomes doesn’t “deserve” weapons. I’m saying it’s ridiculous to casually say Veach missed by not moving up to get Watson.

Toney and Rice are actually pretty damn good talents, especially considering the assets given up for them, but let's all continue to throw stomping tantrums because Veach missed on Moore.

I think in 4 to 6 weeks we all will be happy with 3 or four of this WR group. Rice, K Toney, & Ross I think will be making unbelievable plays. Really need to start feeding Rice the ball.

I'm already happy with Rice. 2 TD's and about 18 inches short of having 4 TD's in his first 5 games. I'm also happy with Ross. Obviously Mahomes has the trust in him. He's getting open, apparently where he is supposed to be. Once he starts catching them all, we are going to have something with these two.
