*****The Patrick Mahomes Thread*****

IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

Best case scenario for us as fans is Andy deciding Mahomes is ready to take the field by December. 3/4 home games in December to start his tenure and a possible playoff game, which I wouldn't care if we lose if Mahomes is QB.

You know what else is odd? The fact that Trent Green was 17/10 in 2005 for the 10-6 Chiefs, missing the playoffs for the 4th time in 5 seasons, yet people hammer Alex Smith for a 15/8 performance in 14.5 games, in a season in which they won the AFC West. And let's not forget Trent's 17/24 performance in 2001, the year the Chiefs gave up the #12 overall draft choice (and passed on Drew Brees).

The Alex Smith hate around here is completely ridiculous.
Not a fan of extreme points of view in general so I do agree that the Smith hate is over the top. I am however a biased big fan of Trent Green. I would take my chances with Green on this roster over Smith. In the end Smith did what he was brought here to do. In a perfect world his replacement would be ready now but it is what it is.

He's a Franchise QB because he's led winning teams for the past six seasons, led his team to the NFC Championship in 2011, helped the 49ers to the Super Bowl in 2012 (6-2 record) and led the Chiefs to the playoffs three out of four seasons and their first playoff win in more than 20 years.

He's a Franchise QB, period.

That is one area the current QB could improve on. How many times have we seen passes slightly behind wide open guys, or high, or low, that have allowed the defender to catch up to our receivers and negate what would be HUGE plays / first downs / yards after the catch?

Yes it is just one practice pass, but it was soo effortless.
Sooooooo much good shit coming.

He is, but only because he was drafted by his team and will have a 10+ year career there, and has put up impressive passing numbers doing it. But idiots here love to shit on Dalton and suck off Smith.

Former first-round busts who ride the coattails of their defense to victory aren't franchise QBs.

You have to be a guy who can will his team to victory to acquire that moniker.

This is the guy who thought Geno was destined to be HOF. That our current number one receiver and threat didn't deserve even a practice squad spot.

When was Smith's superlative play ever labeled "the face of the franchise"?

By anyone?

It sure as **** wasn't in SF.

And he was never drafted by KC.

Alex Smith has led the Chiefs to four consecutive winning seasons, something that hasn't happened since the 1960's by the same QB.
