What CP needs is a good old fishing thread bump.
I really like watching some people fish. |

Just got back from WY a couple days ago, spent most of yesterday just sleeping, so this is a short batch of pics from the trip. Sorry in advance for the poor quality of most of these; just couldn't get a good one this year for whatever reason.

I've got family around there. I've fished in the flaming gorge a couple of times. Absolutely beautiful up there. I'd move in a heartbeat if i could get my wife on board.

Flaming is great, and more picturesque. C section was a our Plan B this year. Might be our Plan A in 2024. |

I spent the last week in New Mexico fishing the Rio Grande in the gorge just north of Taos.
I had never fished this river before, so I took a guide the first day and did it on my own for the next 3. It was a beautiful, remote area and it was a hell of a hike - 700 feet down to the gorge bottom. The hike in wasn't so bad, but the hike out after a day of crawling over car sized boulders was a bit tough. At the trailhead - can't even see the river here: ![]() The river is finally in sight: ![]() A pretty brown: ![]() A 19 incher, but he was so long and skinny! This guy would be a monster if he could put on some weight: ![]() A beautiful, wild rainbow. Look at those pretty, sharp fins and nice pointy nose. This is so much better than those nasty stocked hatchery fish: ![]() Catch of the weekend - a monster brown! ![]() My guide wanted a picture of the fish too! He said it was the biggest fish any of his clients had taken all year. Of course, his photo turned out way better than mine: ![]() |

Those hikes of those canyons are not fun.
Beautiful colors on that brown. Looks pretty thick as well. Guessing about 18-19 inches? Assuming both of you have close to normal sized hands/fingers. What ware they biting on? Caddis? |

Most of the fish, including this, were caught on a size 18 micro may bead head drifted under a heavy poundmeister (a local pattern if a crane fly larvae). Speaking of colors, I lost a very large cutthroat when it wrapped me around a rock. I saw it roll once a d it was such a beautiful red color...I'm really upset I lost that fish. |
