They can’t get open, they drop passes in their hands, their jet sweeps are slow and terrible. These guys are not good.

It'd be great to have a WR that transcended the scheme, as Tyreek often did. Andy doesn't HAVE to have that, though. What matters most is that he's got WR's, and TE's that are where they're supposed to be EXACTLY when they're supposed to be there.

It's not as simple as "you run a 10 yard hook, and you run a slant, and you over there, you're running a post." That may be the original play idea, but every route has a sight adjustment based on the pre and post snap reads based on what the defense shows you before and after the snap. Think of it as 11 mid-play audibles. Everyone has to get it right.

This is why it's difficult for rookies; they have to learn how to be NFL players, AND have to digest all of the sight adjustments for all of the positions so that they understand how it all works together. When they don't understand how it works together, you get...well, the first four weeks of the season. These young guys aren't quite on the same page yet.

There are positive signs, and a guy like Rice is coming along. Just be patient. Meanwhile, the defense looks to be much improved; we can lean on them a bit while the offense gets it together.
You’re trying to have your cake and eat it too.

You talk about how complex this offense is. Yet shrug off our track record of bringing in WRs who can’t even execute the basics. We’re not talking about subtle adjustments or timing issues. We’re talking about guys who can’t run simple routes.

You preach patience yet are the most vocal critic of bandaids. Can we just admit that veach and Reid overestimated skyy and toneys ability to hold the room together? what’s the harm in bringing somebody in now as a bandaid if it costs nothing? Do we think Andy’s offense is so complex that they’ll look any more lost than skyy? Why would this vulture reps for rashee if we’re preaching not to rush him?

Now we’re so intent on trying to defer blame on WRs that we’re blaming mahomes for being indecisive and praising him when he runs after holding the ball 10 seconds too long. It’s a weird dichotomy. Or we keep tossing around this bogus stat that doesn’t pass any reasonable sniff test about how this years offense has been just as productive as last years through the first 4 games?

There are plenty who are optimistic yet critical. And it’s insulting that this has been branded as being a veach hater, or not trusting Reid or impatient. We are fine with rashee being the eventual juju replacement we need but can acknowledge we’ve made mistakes and that it’s also ok to adjust from plan (as many have suggested we should be immediately adjusting our WR depth chart)

You could say this about every team. No team is perfect. They struggle finding a player somewhere.

Ours has been WR but Mahomes makes everything easier.

I DID think that MVS and James would lead this WR room, and that Ross would make a splash.

I got crucified for saying Moore wouldn't touch anywhere near 1k yards and expectations of Toney being a #1 were way off after his 170 yard performance last year.

Now, I think Rice ends up leading the squad.

Enough squabbling, what are your predictions for tomorrow?

We prob spread it around again, something like...

Kelce - 7 x 80
MVS - 3 x 55
Rice - 5 x 40
Watson - 2 x 35
Toney - 2 x 25
Moore - 3 x 20
Gray - 2 x 15

Veach wont let him walk. He will find the cap room to tag him and get something of value for him walking.

I've been saying it for at least 3 years. Veach is following the basic outline of Bellicheck to be competitive in the salary cap era.

HOF QB
Great OL
Solid defense
Average WR's and RB's
Let's do it, sign me up for average.

Right now we are feeding massive amounts of snaps to Skyy Moore, Justin Watson, and Noah Gray who are not that.

Toney and MVS are average. I think Rice will be close to average at worst by the time the playoffs start.

Well, MVS is a #3 WR that runs vertical routes as a decoy.

Toney is a part-time player here.

So compared to your average NFL WR room, if these are your aces then your group is far below average.

Rice might get there but right now that's hope.

But the average NFL team doesn’t have a Kelce. How many teams have more than one consistently elite receiving weapon?

Toney’s injury is what threw things off a bit. And I get that he’s injury-prone, but ideally, he would have been healthy to start the season and carried the load while Rice and others learned. If the injury had happened mid to late season, they’d have been better prepared to absorb it.

At this point, we probably have to view any production from Toney as a bonus. Seems like he’s almost always going to be less than 100%. Hopefully he’ll be at his best for the playoffs. And maybe we’ll even get really lucky and he’ll be 100% within a week or two and kill it the rest of the season. Either way, he was worth the gamble.

I expect Rice to be a consistent producer very soon.

I remember in the preseason when it felt like we had 12 good WRs. Now we're hoping just ONE of them will step it up.

I think if any of them, it'll be Rice.

Hmm. So PFR has Toney's average YBC (Yards Before Catch) as 1 yd (season). Yeah, very small sample size (13 tgts, 9 rec), but a significant drop from his career average YBC, which is closer to 5 yds.

And the eyeball test says that he's been running a ton of very short routes so far.

Wonder how much of that is missing preseason, or his knee not being 100%, or what.

I'm not trying to do anything. Argue with Veach and Andy Reid. I'm sorry you disagree with them, but you're not in charge. That's probably a good thing.

Sure, with Kelce. That’s how bad it is. You have to add other position groups. If Kelce, our older TE is hurt or sick any playoff game good chance we go home.

But the good news is we can buy someone that can play WR 3 years from now when any of Jones, Sneed, Bolton, and Kelce are gone.
