They can’t get open, they drop passes in their hands, their jet sweeps are slow and terrible. These guys are not good.

Of course a large part of that is we’ve had the best receiving TE in NFL history.
That's the only saving grace. But we saw what it looked like without Travis. Either Veach is not good at picking receivers or Andy's staff hasn't developed them properly. They changed the WR coach recently so even the organisation can see something needs to give. I do wonder how the likes of Metcalf and Pickings would have done under Andy had we picked them? Tbh I doubt they'd be who they are today.

If we aren’t trading or acquiring someone this season I really hope we see our WR’s have a breakout game this Sunday. The Jets defense is good so I don’t really think them making things hard on the rookies is as big a deal as it looked(I hope)

I’m spoiled as well to have Mahomes but i really want to go back to back this year. Mahomes has already clinched an amazing legacy but repeating would feel so damn good. Especially while we still have Kelce

Did they not play Toney much against the Jets because of injury or was that just the playbook? Sorry I haven’t been able to keep up much lately

Dude, you cherry pick stats constantly to fit your narrative while completely ignoring anything that doesn't.

You put on this facade of being ultra logical, but it's all bullshit.

You tried to argue forever that KC didn't really have the number one offense in football, despite leading the NFL in basically every statistical category - except the one you are laser focused on, which is WR production. To you, that's all that matters. Nothing else.

You're ****ing pathological about it.

If I had to pick one, it would be Rice also. It sure wont be Toney, his dick is already broke.

Andy's offense has always been ran through the TE and RB primarily. WR's were just by committee most years.

Andy's offense is about stressing a defense's rules and personnel. Even if you play the WR routes perfectly, you will have difficulty winning the rep because there's still the RB in the flat, or a TE that you can't single up, or if you do all of THAT too, then the QB can just run for the first because there's no one left to keep him from it.

It'd be great to have a WR that transcended the scheme, as Tyreek often did. Andy doesn't HAVE to have that, though. What matters most is that he's got WR's, and TE's that are where they're supposed to be EXACTLY when they're supposed to be there.

It's not as simple as "you run a 10 yard hook, and you run a slant, and you over there, you're running a post." That may be the original play idea, but every route has a sight adjustment based on the pre and post snap reads based on what the defense shows you before and after the snap. Think of it as 11 mid-play audibles. Everyone has to get it right.

This is why it's difficult for rookies; they have to learn how to be NFL players, AND have to digest all of the sight adjustments for all of the positions so that they understand how it all works together. When they don't understand how it works together, you get...well, the first four weeks of the season. These young guys aren't quite on the same page yet.

There are positive signs, and a guy like Rice is coming along. Just be patient. Meanwhile, the defense looks to be much improved; we can lean on them a bit while the offense gets it together.

If the Chiefs are 10th in passing this year, but 5th in scoring defense and 9th in rushing, you still have an excellent football team. Last year they were 20th in rushing and 16th in scoring defense. Huge improvement this year.

Just because you have the best QB, doesn't mean it's a failure, or you can't win a SB, if you're not #1 on offense.

We are spoiled. The Chiefs might be better than they were last season, but it might look differently.

Flame away!

Agree.

The best thing we can give Patrick is a good OL and a defense. Pacheco, Kelce and the rest should be more than enough, but I do think we need to add another speedster that can separate.

We saw defenses like ours drag Brady year after year. High time Patrick gets his own elite defense.

True, but the Chiefs have invested in 2nd round WR's. Just think how much better shape they would be in had / if the 2nd round WR's panned / pan out... For one thing, there would be no need for this thread.

And, I am sorry, but that MF could run a jet sweep 1000x better than anyone on this roster, except for Toney, and he probably runs it twice as good as Toney, and when Hardman makes his cut up field, he is mooooving.

When Toney cuts up field on the jet sweep, my honest thought every time is please don't blow out your knee. Toney has one of the most unique cutting, planting, juking styles ever, and his knees always look like they are about to blow.
Tired of the Mecole Hardman defenders, dude isn't even on the team any more.

I hear you, but I think it's relevant when you compare his performance to the other second round wide receivers currently on the team.

Veach wont let him walk. He will find the cap room to tag him and get something of value for him walking.

I've been saying it for at least 3 years. Veach is following the basic outline of Bellicheck to be competitive in the salary cap era.

HOF QB
Great OL
Solid defense
Average WR's and RB's
