*****2024 NFL DRAFT THREAD - NO SPOILERS*****

Version 2024 - PATRICK MAHOMES & THE HUNT FOR THE THREEPEAT

Let's ****ing do this.

Quote:
Rules for once the draft begins:
  1. No spoiled picks in this thread, all weekend. This means that as tweets are leaking picks a few minutes before the selection is announced live, you don't post it in this thread (ex: embedded tweets), reference it in this thread (ex: Joe Slapdick says it's So and So to Green Bay) or hint at it (ex: "it's a RB!").
  2. Don't be a dick.
Otherwise, have fun, talk shit, freak out and lose your goddamned minds. It's Draft Weekend. The hot takes in these threads are so funny. I'll also be starting player threads for each of our picks as they are made, with videos and notable stats/takes in the OP. These separate threads will be made as soon as the news breaks, outside of this thread. I will link the threads below. Pure knee-jerk gold to reference in the future.

Here are our picks:

Round 1, #28: Xavier Worthy
Round 2, #63: Kingsley Suamataia
Round 4, #131: Jared Wiley
Round 4, #133: Jaden Hicks
Round 5, #159: Hunter Nourzad
Round 6, #211: Kamal Hadden
Round 7, #248: C.J. Hanson

Here is a list of the prospects the Chiefs have shown interest in this year.

Eh. Idk. I think you're being too definitive.

What if that WR or OT isn't worth the 5th year option and we just lost out on a Trey Smith or LJ Sneed over a 5th year option that we won't even use?

The Ladd pick is in theory based on the idea that:

A) There are no quality LT's on the board
B) The Chiefs could not find a trade up partner (And if they did, it wont be for a WR)
C) Can't find a trade down partner.

Now, im not a McConkey "guy", so im having this convo with you objectively. He wouldnt be my first choice for a #32 overall WR either.

But lets just talk hypothetical here: Top tackles are off the board and we can't move from this spot. WR becomes the most logical pick. So who's that WR?
If Mahomes has input I could see Adonai or McConk. If it’s the way we did it before Mahomes was throwing to WRs that are draft prospects it’s Worthy.

It's just baffling. Look at the contracts even the shit tier FAs are getting nowadays at those spots. Jonah Williams wasn't good enough for the ****ing BENGALS and he got 15 AAV. If you're a WRwith a pulse and can fog a mirror you're getting 8 figures AAV. The decent ones are getting 20+ million AAV now.

Of course. I think anyone who's paying attention would agree with that. But, again....

Veach hasn't drafted a bum in the first since 2020. Have enough faith he'll get a guy worthy.

Ladd McConkey college stats:

2021: 31 rec, 448 yards, 2 TD
2022: 58 rec, 762 yards, 7 TD
2023: 31 rec, 441 yards, 5 TD

This is your savior? This is the guy people expect to get 85 receptions, 1000 yards, and 8-10 TDs in the NFL when he never sniffed it in college? That, my friends, is called hype.
He missed the first four games last year, and 3 of those were against stat padding bad teams.

Who's stats were these in college?
2019 7 rec, 168 yards, 2 TD
2020 9 rec, 51 yards, 1 TD
2021 43 rec, 805 yards, 6 TD
2022 48 rec, 625 yards, 5 TD

Spoiler!

People also need to adjust their "our first round pick needs to be" thinking.

It's pick 32. It's probably not gonna be a storm the castle year 1 kinda thing so if you get a guy that's a good solid football player, that's a baseline win.

The one cool thing about the Chiefs is they never leak anything. So if someone is saying the Chiefs will do this, it’s false
