Nah, it's fine, and he is doing god's work in the sense of taking in all of the bullshit and having the platform to defend.... outside of watching Simms last night and chuckling at a few memes, I've mostly ignored all of it.

Makes a good point. Hell with the Royals run we consider both World Series appearances great.

The Royals were beloved as the little engine that could. Save Mets fans, most every other fan base (including AL central fans) were cheering for the Royals in 2014/2015.

The Chiefs are the big, bad wolf. While I’m sure many fans outside of our fan base wanted to see Brady lose, they were more than happy to pile on Mahomes and KC after the loss. Why?

Because the Chiefs are a legitimate threat at becoming a dynasty as long as PMII is at the helm. Fan bases have just gone through 2 decades of football being almost insufferable due to Brady. The last thing they want on the heels of that is another dynasty. So whenever they get the chance, they will bash Mahomes and the Chiefs. It’s part of being a boss.

Anyone who thinks this 1 game ruins Mahomes legacy is a clueless Jackass. Mahomes will be going into his 4th year starting. So far he has a 66% rate of reaching the Super Bowl. Mahomes Legacy has yet to be written. And I personally am enjoying what he has done so far.

When you see Mahomes make a 30-yard throw while being spun to the ground or flicking the ball 20 yards while being airborne and parallel to the ground, you know he's special.

He's the QB, he gets the credit when they win and the blame when they don't. But anybody that thought Mahomes lost this game is a moron. He made special plays even when they weren't complete.

While I agree that Mahomes losing a SB at this stage in his career shouldn't be getting looked at as some blow to his final legacy, Brady won 3 Super Bowls in his first 4 years as a starter. So he's an unfair comp for any QB who's from the the Super Bowl era NFL.

How does that perception change had they won the WS in 2014 and then lost in the WS in 2015? In hindsight, it's easy to say we would have loved each playoff run equally, but losing game 7 in 2014 didn't get me down in the slightest (and I was there, on the 3rd base side watching the pop up in front of that dugout come down)..... but, if they had won in '14, losing in '15 would probably sting a bit?

Same for the Chiefs.... how does the perception change if the Chiefs lost in in the AFCCG, then lost in the SB last year, then won the SB this year (vs Brady or not)?

Less hype surrounding the Chiefs and Mahomes, a little more pressure to win it all and the whole "can Mahomes get it done this year" thing... but, then both losses become "part of the journey" and the win is "that much sweeter".

The dumb narratives change, even if the results are just in a different order and don't mean anything at all.

While I mentioned Brady it wasn't to Compare them more to make the point that people are acting like Brady never failed in the bigger games when he has. And lost to far lesser QBs. It didn't ruin his legacy. Sunday even if one were to think that Mahome's played bad (which I don't think he did) it doesn't ruin Mahomes. Mahomes has plenty of time to make people forget about that game.

Absolutely. The legacy thing is beyond idiotic in relation to a 25 year old who just completed his 3rd season as a starter. If Mahomes never makes it back to a Super Bowl, which I believe is highly unlikely but have to admit is possible, he’s already surpassed Brees, Rodgers, Marino, etc in SB appearances. Anybody who think this tarnishes anything about Mahomes is, as the young people say, purely a “hater”.

I think both are very different. The Royals were on a short timeline and we knew that. In 2014 I guess I felt different than you. I was crushed by the loss. I still had hope for next year, but I know how difficult it is to get back and so it really destroyed a lot of the joy of everything else that happened. Then when they came out in 2015 and dominated it was so special. As Rany put it the 2015 Royals "turned the 2014 Royals into a prologue."

But with Chiefs I know they'll be around for awhile. And winning last year takes some pressure off of any one year. I'm way less down about this loss than I was about the Royals in 2014. We have Superman playing for our team, and the future is bright. Not just this next season, but for 10-15 years.

Right. Mahomes is 6-2 in the post season with both losses against Brady. Where is Patrick’s loss to Mark Sanchez....to Jake Plummer....to Ryan Tannehill?

Living in Houston you hear some wild stuff, especially on sports radio. This morning on my drive in Mahomes was compared to Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson. He will be amazing, and will always keep his teams close to the top of the shelf, but “don’t be surprised if he is always left at the alter.”

I am a Saints fan, so I could care less if you guys win or lose another Super Bowl (we have our own problems), but to think of the Chiefs wasting Mahomes’ best years like the Saints just wasted Drew’s, I’m not seeing it. Andy finally has “his” quarterback, and he is going to make sure that Mahomes will be able to be Mahomes. I don’t see things like Tucan Sam above, but I also don’t think the guys on the radio are correct either, Mahomes will be judged by his last game, and he will get to another SB before all is said and done.

I wonder how much Mahomes hate is directly correlated to the Schnoz from Syracuse.

I relate to this. I remember trying to fall asleep after seeing Salvy pop up (turned off the TV. Never actually saw Fat Panda catch it until after we won in 2015, lol) so bummed out that this Cinderella team had made it so far, only to fall short. It was as if Inigo Montoya has actually been killed by Count Rugen. 2015 was so unexpectedly awesome, honestly I can probably go another ten years of the Royals sucking since we have 2015 in the bank.

This SB loss is what I imagine a Warriors fan felt like when they lost to Lebron. Much more “welp, would’ve loved to have won that but we’ll be back”. It’s not an exact comp since it’s much easier for a great team in the NBA to get back to a finals but I’m certainly more excited about next season than I am crushed about this one.

And when did Mahomes miss the postseason starting all 16 games like Brady has. These are on his resume and didn't define his career. Mahomes career isn't defined by his "worst moment"

I was actually defending Mahomes, and it's certainly no shame that he's lost to a pair of Brady teams in the playoffs, but this is a terrible comp. Brady won 10 playoff games before dropping his first, and that was to a 13-3 team. He then lost to the 12-4 Peyton Mannings in the AFCCG, and followed that up with the 18-1 season. So Brady's legacy was already firmly in place before Sanchez was even in the picture.
