The Seahawks signed Marcus Smith, who was just cut by the Eagles two days ago, so this guy was expendable.
But man, Veach must not have valued Alexander. Wow. |

So they trade him for a guy that's going to be their 5th best OLB and only play on STs? Makes sense.

I'm really kinda shocked. They must see something in Pepe LePew because DJ Alexander was aces on ST last year.

Seems odd. Why trade a proven special teamer? They must think this Louis guy is a better schematic fit with equal special teams potential.
If i have two bottom of the roster players, i'd take the one that's at least made a Pro Bowl as a special teamer |

Pierre Louis was a freak at the combine. Alexander was a great speacial teamer but not a ILB. Pierre Louis gives you a better ILB.

I guess I just don't see the point.
They must think the new guy can actually compete for an ILB job because he isn't going to do a better job than Alexander on special teams. He might be as good (though even that's unlikely), but Alexander was outstanding there; he's not going to offer a legit improvement. So why not stick with the devil you know? They're about the same size, damn near the exact same age (Alexander has an extra year on his rookie deal though). Same warts, same strengths. This sure looks like a move for the sake of making a move. |

That leaves Sherman as our best special teamer right now

And they still have Zombo. Unless this guy is going to take his roster spot......it doesn't really make any sense. I guess you could look at it....as we had a TON of "guys" at the ILB spot.
