They were never in it. That would of conpletely hedged on Bortles passing a physical, which wasn't going to happen.

Bortles went into mighty Pittsburgh as a yuge underdog and kicked their ass up and down the field... when a play just HAD to be made to keep them from taking the lead, or keeping a crucial drive from stalling, Bortles made it happen

Good move for them I think. 26.5 guaranteed isn't bad, and there isn't a clear upgrade for them in free agency or in the draft this year.
