RIP Skip Towne

To our best knowledge (basically, Bwana), Skip Towne passed away on March 24, 2023. I didn't exactly have the most positive run-ins with him, but everyone who was anyone on here in the beginning deserves a thread in the In Memoriam forum.

I say we share our best (or worst) encounters with Skip, and then, only once this thread reached 100 posts, move it.

We've done it from time to time. I personally don't see any harm by it, especially since he hasn't been around for years.

I was going to ask if somebody would. Kinda curious how old he was. Seemed like he was the butt of old man jokes like 20 years ago.

RIP Skip, you have been missed around here for quite a while.

I will never forget the fun we had discussing the Jayhawks/Shockers, Wichita vs. Tulsa.

I will just say we were not in total agreement.

I am confident he passed as a happy man with the Chief's Super Bowls and Jayhawk's national championship.

Damn, that sucks. I know Skip was a crotchety old man but he could be fun. And he was a fellow Chiefs and Jayhawks fan.

I do remember that he worked for Directv as an installer, I believe. At the time, I had Dish and I remember he used to always refer to it as Dish Notwork. Derp! A few years later, I ended up going with Directv. Now that I have tried both and for multiple years I can honestly say that they are about the same. The only thing Dtv had over Dish was Sunday Ticket but I really didn't care about that.
I ditched Dtv about 5 years ago and have been happy with streaming ever since. But I wish I could have had a conversation with him about how they really are both the same shitty company.

Also, Skip was always the guy to greet new members with "shut up, n00b!" I mean, how can you not love that?
