The worry isn't the suspension. The threat here is actual jail time. He got caught with an uzi in California. That's not good.

This is Kalifornika we're talking about. And TMZ, which has not been a fount of reliable news, well, ever.
There's a 50% chance they arrested him for having an airsoft pseudo-Uzi. |

I'm not at all a "gun guy." Is this illegal because uzi's specifically are banned in California, or is there some other element at play here that I'm missing?

Was wondering the same thing. If he is a felon (I have no idea) it would be illegal for him to carry any fire arm if not then it has to be a thing having to do with the type of weapon he had in his possession considering there is nothing about him brandishing, using, or even holding the firearm based on what we know early.

Assuming it's an automatic, that's the real problem. Those are federally banned. I'm not sure what they do to a non-felon who wasn't using one to commit a crime, but my understanding is the penalties are harsh enough to make it a very bad idea. Just googling around sounds like state laws come into play as well. Again, not entirely sure how bad this situation is, but would like to hear somebody report on the possible range of outcomes.

But aside from all of that, Kalifornika's gun control regs are draconian; only NY is stricter, or more zealously idiotic, depending on your POV. |
