*****The Patrick Mahomes Thread*****

IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

Mahomes numbers are not going to look good when all the games get done this week.

Completion percentage and YPA are taking a nosedive.

I think he's regressed. Just a bit.

He hasn't played very well in 3 of 5 games, but that same statement applies to the OL as well. Somehow he is 3rd in the league in ESPN's QBR stat. It does not feel like he has played well enough to be in that spot.

Yep, I can't believe he dropped all those passes today. Huge PI Noncall would have put us in scoring position and 2 TD's taken off the board.

Mahomes should have had 4 passing TD's today and 1 running- with over 400 yards.

That is a month's worth of production when we had Alex.

We need to get to work figuring out how to beat 7 & 8 man secondaries.

This, in conjunction with the pass protection, are really my only concerns right now.

The easy answer is to run the football more effectively and you just have to pass block better. It’s 5-on-3, no reason we shouldn’t be blocking it up better.

Schwartz and Fisher have to be better, but we also may need to provide them some help now from time to time. Mahomes also needs to hit some targets quicker instead of always looking to extend the play against 8 man zones.

This is the same type of scheme the Titans used in the AFCCG and if you remember, Mahomes held the ball forever in that game too. But he was able to because Schwartz and Fisher just locked shit down.

I’m hopeful that those guys will get a little better as we go in this unique start to a season.

Won four out of five games and has 15 total td's to one interception...yep he's been garbage this year

Just a reminder to some of the cry babies who can't handle a loss so want to take shots at Pat. Last season we had a run like this.

Lions= won but no td's and folks claimed he couldn't handle their scheme

Colts= lost..one td and lowest points scored since he took over...injured ankle but folks again spoke about the Colts scheme

Texans= lost..three td's but only had one td in the second half and offense went cold.

After the Colts game last year we were 4-1 and Pat had 11 td's and zero ints...now he has 15 td's to 1 int and we're 4-1 ...the numbers prove he has not regressed....period.

Given the lack of running game and poor pass protection, yeah it does.

Mahomes hasn't regressed. The offense is sloppy.

Exactly. They're making too many mistakes right now, especially up front.

People keep talking about dropping 8 asif it's some magic mahomes stopper.

Uhhh... no. The problem is that 3 man rushes are blowing up our six man protections. Mahomes shouldn't be ducking, dodging, and scrambling in those situations. New england was blowing up our protection with 2 rushers on plays. Not gonna work.

Worse yet, they're getting him hit too much.

It doesn't help that they either can't or won't run the ball against those fronts either. You'll notice that early on, they ran the ball and the offense pretty much performed as expected (other than the terrible non-call on that long pass breakup Abram had on Tyreek).

Then they just stopped running and those down linemen stopped playing straight up. The Chiefs have to do a better job not telegraphing their tendencies because all it does is make playing these coverage defenses easier for the opponent.

Overall execution is not crisp.

Offensive line play is a big problem so far this season. I was harping on that all offseason, and Veach tried to address it, but Covid took a starter and a promising rookie and now we have injury taking another starter. It is what it is. The bottom line is that we should be able to run at will against 7 and 8 in coverage, and no pass rusher should get near Mahomes. It's not working out that way.

We're okay, we'll still be in the hunt, but the offensive line issues need to get sorted and quickly.

Just watched back the highlights of yesterdays game. The amount of incredible plays he pulled off were just astonishing. Kelce deep pass, Hardman pass, Tyreek Td that came back, Watkins td, the two point conversion etc. How anyone can lay any blame at his door is amazing to me smh.
