Should the Chiefs look at S Minkah Fitzpatrick as a CB?

So I've come around to the idea that we might need to address the CB situation sooner rather than later.

In that vein, I was wondering what we think of S Minkah Fitzpatrick of the Miami Dolphins.

6' 1" 200 lbs.

2018 stats
80 tackles
9 pass defended
2 INTs

I know, he's listed as a safety. But last year, out of 1,000 snaps played, he actually played over the slot and on the boundary in nearly 700 snaps. And when he was targeted, he allowed just a 51% completion rate, and a QB rating of only 49%. Okay, 49.7%.

And while he's still got 3 years to go on his contract, he looks cheap, at about 3-4 million/year.

Maybe a solid possibility?

I can’t imagine owners are too happy about the dolphins trying to tank. Maybe after the Tunsil trade other teams aren’t gonna be too keen on helping them any further and they won’t get as good of offers as we think. I’d offer the 9ers pick and Demarcus Robinson.

Keep in mind, the Dolphins gave him permission for his agent to seek a trade. That means his agent is on the phone, talking to teams. It means that his agent is looking for the best landing spot for him. If I were Minkah Fitzpatrick, the idea of playing with Mahomes would sure be enticing. I'm not saying he has complete control, but he's got some leverage.

Yeah his agent is trying to find a team where he wants to go but the Dolphins have all the power. If the offer is not good enough they don't have to accept it. This giving permission could be just a smoke screen so that it looks like they tried to make a player happy.

He would have been moved already if all it took was a 2nd.

What if the Chiefs did this, trade for Minkah Fitzpatrick and maybe move Thornhill to CB?

Our safeties would be really good with Mathieu and Fitzpatrick. I could live with Breeland as one of the other starting corners.

Not saying Thornhill has to start right away, but it would be an intriguing option. I mean he has played CB before and was pretty good at it w/ WV. For now we could live w/ Breeland, Claiborne as the outside corners w/ Fuller in the slot while Thornhill develops. Hmmm

Hey guys. Haven’t been able to follow this story.

Do we have rumored interest? Or is everyone just saying we should be in the mix

I’m sure playing with Russell, Goff, Brady, or any number of guys would be enticing. I get everybody wanting this to happen. That doesn’t mean it actually will.
