Well it probably steered it towards this.

Even before the story came out it was clear they wernt expecting him to be back. Weeks on end with no urgency to bring him back, and only when things started getting uncomfortable....another one year deal.
Lets face it, they were hoping, expecting him to land a job somewhere this offseason.

My take on the situation is this - mistakes were made by all parties involved, throughout the season. Sure, more of the blame falls on the staff but they worked it out via meetings and made some changes and Mahomes signed off on it. Hopefully it works out.

I'll just take what Kelce has to say over anyone. Feb 13,2022

I don't get the lies that were told I don't even believe a prominent offensive player was going to threaten to walk if the brought back EB. Patrick Mahomes is the face of the Franchise and Co owner of the Royals. He has been putting out workout videos and going to games and plenty of pics of him and his fiance and baby. The man looks happy and the vids of him working out are insane. Determination hard work we got to move on from the AFCCG and the combine and FA period begins. Then the Draft and I wonder what will be under Burt Vlanch for this years draft and bolster this offensive line and he said defensive line is a priority.

I don't know about the rest of y'all but mother ****ers did we not just win Super Bowl LIV and am I the only one that's grateful for that gift from God himself? I get that Andy ****ed the second half of the AFC Championship but how many coaches are as consistent as Andy in giving his team the opportunity to win the Conference Championship. Yes he has stubbornites of passing the ball. Marty Shcottenheimer (rip) was just the opposite with running the ball. We all hail and love Marty S but geaze shit all over the man that brought us home the Lombardi after 50 ****ing years.

Y'all and my self included need to chill. Lets paint a happy place we will be back in contention of winning Super Bowls.

I'm glad you think so because that means we are doing the right thing bringing back EB.

This just made me jump on endorsing EB. I was hoping he'd find a HC job elsewhere but now I'm happy that we get to bring back a guy that was instrumental in helping us win SB LIV. Don't believe me, ask the players. Ask Patrick Travis Tyreek.

Well, you've certainly achieved a level of distinction where no one will believe anything you utter out of your mouth (and other orifices) from now on.

GFY.

EB is from the streets, dude. He put on a good face to try and get a HC gig but the sharks that hire NFL head coaches saw right through him.

And now we learn he tried his junkyard dog tactics on our half-a-billion dollar QB and pissed off just about everyone on offense. And he calls plays like it's Super Tecmo Bowl.

Incompetent and nasty is a bad combination. If he didn't get his nuts clipped, he is a ticking time bomb. Bad juju all around.

Should have just gone with a good soldier like Nagy but Andy gonna Andy.
