It appears Sneed is making a huge gamble here with his contract demands. There is a real threat he will be forced to play on the tag, and that's a lot for a 27-year-old with a questionable knee who hasn't had a big payday yet.

The Schefter take today tells me the Colts are balking at his asking price and are about ready to wash their hands of it by their denial. If it isn't happening today, they will move on to the next DB on their list.

The Chiefs should offer Sneed a 17/18m year per contract or let him play on the tag. It's very unlikely Sneed will replicate his remarkable season.

So the only facts we have are...

-Sneed is on the tag
-He's been negotiating with other teams for several days, no trade.

I guess we wait. Sometimes guys get traded on draft night like AJ Brown. Anything can happen.

Sneeds knee isn’t a ****ing issue… he’s played more snaps than anybody on this defense not named Justin Reid. He has played 90% or more defensive snaps in every year except his rookie year

Why do people keep saying this shit? Sneed has been awesome since day 1. He didn't just burst onto the scene in 2023. If somebody wants to take this angle, at least change it to, "It's very unlikely Sneed will replicate his FOUR remarkable seasons."

Sneed has always been really good but the difference this year was his playing pretty much exclusively on the outside while shadowing the best WRs in the league and allowing McDuffie to operate from the slot.

That was definitely a new wrinkle in his game that turned him from above average to elite. Tough to say it's a fluke with the number of guys he shut down.

Doesn't feel like Veach offered him a contract at all. Franchise tag says we want to work it out for the long term. Transition tag says we don't. Who the hell knows how this will go down.

He definitely took it to another level this year, but yeah he's been remarkable since the day he got here.

I'm still utterly shocked at the way some people view him. I understand we cannot keep everyone, but Sneed is not just some average joe. I truly believe his leadership and tenacity were the keys to this defense turning into what it has. Before Sneed got here, this unit had almost no edge whatsoever, aside from maybe Frank Clark. Sneed's energy and intensity cannot be replaced, not to even mention his incredible talent.

I think as this defense has gotten better collectively, everybody shines brighter. When the defense was less dominant Sneed was usually one of the main guys making plays. INTs, sacks, TFL. I do agree this year he got to showcase his amazing coverage skills more. I think as Spags creates more confusion and pressure with the rest of the defense, the impact of somebody with Sneed's skillset just goes up.
