So, I'm watching TFA this evening. Although I'm just fine with the idea Rey doesn't have important parents, it sure seems there are hints in TFA that people know who she is. Kylo is told that "a girl" helped BB8 escape and he freaks does a force pull, and says "what girl"?

When they fly down to Maz's planet, Rey says she never imagined there was so much green in the galaxy, and Han looks at her with what sure seems to be a knowing, guilty look.

Another interesting article. I was only 8 when Empire came out....I just remember loving it and being on pins and needles the whole show. Apparently Empire was not universally loved in 1980:

https://movieweb.com/empire-strikes-...isons-reviews/

Empire is significantly better than TLJ.

only the major fanboys who think Disney/Star Wars can do no wrong are the only ones defending this movie

In 1983, George Lucas and a good amount of the fandom took ROTJ’s box office returns as confirmation that it was better than the dark and divisive Empire Strikes Back.

I have a feeling people are going to have a similar retcon once JJ produces Return of the Last Jedi.

That list also ranked TFA as the 5th best sci-fi film of ALL TIME and 2015's Mad Max: Fury Road as the greatest sci-fi movie of ALL TIME.

List invalidated.

Fury Road was a great flick, but if you're trying to prop it up as the GOAT against genre changers like 2001, Alien, TDTESS, etc. then you can't be taken seriously . . . .

It isn't Disney that is going to ruin star wars or even Rian Johnson. It will be ruined by all of these pussy-ass fans that will bitch and whine until every star wars movie will need to be made in exactly the same way, using the same formula, over and over until it dies.

Looks like ESB is only rated at #19. Empire ranked behind TLJ and TFA? I don't think so.

I don't want every Star Wars movie to be exactly the same. I appreciate that the film tried to be unique. They made a deliberate point of killing off the old and accepting the new. That said, to me and apparently many others, Rian not only tried to make that change, he felt like doing so in ways that were over dramatic and borderline a big middle finger to plot lines that were lead in The Force Awakens. Not just the first 6. I really loved many parts of the movie, but others felt just completely out of place and missing the mark. Some parts felt so very characteristically Star Wars, followed by scenes that were so oddly out of place that it made me feel very mixed. It just didn't feel right. Enjoyable movie for sure, but a real let down after a slightly flawed but full of potential Force Awakens, and an incredible Rogue One.

Rian?

If someone doesn't like it , they dont like it. Some love it, some seem to despise it and a whole lot of meh from the rest from what I can tell. You seem hell bent on selling this movie.

Agreed. Fury relied on actual car stunts instead of CGI and it made it a way better movie but GOAT? No way.
