You'd best believe all the time they have put in to Bray has happened for one reason only:

FLIP.

Bray is just as an unknown??? Still trying to remember when we've ever seen him in regular season let alone active for a game.

He is due at least this. He will be a solid piece until Mahomes sinks or swims.

He lit it up against the Green Bay scrubs one preseason, and that's pretty much his claim to fame in KC.
And if we don't have any reliable options for backup QB, then that tells me one of two things:

a) Reid the "GM" is a piss-poor planner. Or,

b) This shit with Bray as the backup is a complete ****ing ruse, they plan to FLIP his ass to a needy team provided he can demonstrate some skill, and Mahomes is going directly to the #2 slot when the season kicks in.

"But...but...STAVE, man"!

Who?

I'll admit he has been solid.

And floaty.

And very hard indeed to flush.

There's a lot of fiber to that man, for sure.

That last pass in this video by Mahomes is one of the best throws I've ever seen a Chiefs player make

Just a side thought for fun but after watching the DL v OL pass rushing/blocking drill I thought why couldn't we recruit say a Sumo Wrestler the size of Willie Roaf and teach him how to block like Willie Roaf. I mean like a side project and see if he could convert into a power house LT and just see what happens. Nothing ventured nothing gained. I think it would be a fun experiment

We are not going into the season with two quarterbacks. Stave will be cut or put on the practice squad if there is room but I doubt it. We will carry three quarterbacks and Bray and Mahomes are duke it out in preseason. I think coach will determine who wins after second preseason game so the backup will get majority of reps in the final preseason game. My guess is that will be Mahomes and hope so but Bray has the experience playing 4 seasons of preseason he has the edge on it. I will be disappointing if Mahomes doesn't win second string but really cards are stacked against him with how much he has to prove he can handle the offense and read defenses. Bray should have the upper hand.

They will not have two quarterbacks Alex and Patrick they will have three so they will not "flip" Tyler Bray because he is more valuable as a backup right now.

The wise concept here is to not stress about "saving the 2017 season" by desperately throwing Mahomes in. The wise concept is to patiently develop Mahomes to be a HOF quarterback beyond 2017, and more realistically by 2020.

( meaning, Mahomes will start the 2018 or even 2019 season after being fully prepared.. and from there, would likely take another yr or three to develop into the top 5 of all QBs )
