Let's talk about the 49ers (Super Bowl Edition)

Well Chiefs vs Packers is what I had hoped for, but that's not happening.

Let's talk about Chiefs vs 49ers here.

The 49ers run game is pretty good as a scheme, but it's not like they have a Dalvin Cook(who the Chiefs handled) or a Kamara/Barkley/CMC.
The Chiefs are in a similar predicament, the running game is essentially as good as it has to be to support the offense. Any given Sunday this season has been Williams or Williams or McCoy. None are great, but all have had a good day, catch the ball well enough out of the backfield to keep the defense honest and pass block.

Meck was right in his template smack, but it's a broken record from opposing fans. Go ahead and run for 150 yards and complete 8 passes against the Chiefs. Mahomes will throw for 375 and 4TDs while you're doing that.
Had the Chiefs not just completely dismantled the Titans outside zone schemes I'd have been a little more concerned.

The issue is mostly that Breida and Mostert are genuine homerun hitters and for a running team to hang with the Chiefs, that's what they'll need. It isn't to say they WILL break a couple of 50+ yarders, but only to say that they CAN. And might.

But what made the performance against TN so impressive was that they just destroyed Henry at the LOS. They simply kept him from being able to find room to operate at all. There were no cutback lanes because the DL was incredible and simple held their ground. Those stretch zones that the 49ers like to run won't work if the DL plays like they did last week because Mostert/Breida can run sideways as long as they want - the lane isn't gonna just pop open for them. Especially not when the backside pressure guys like Pennel and Clark were getting was son dominant.

I'll just say what I said yesterday all over again - NOBODY will beat the Chiefs when they play like they played Sunday. They were simply outstanding in virtually every aspect. Breeland was lousy and the Titans made a nice special teams call to pick up a 1st and make the score slightly more respectable, but apart from that they flat got throttled despite playing a very good game.

I don't care about the 49ers at this point. I care about the focus of the Chiefs. If they play how they played against the Titans, they'll be SB champions - full stop.

It’s easy to play lights out against a Kirk Cousins team and a Packers team that didn’t even want to show up.

The Chiefs beat the Vikings with Matt Moore, who was working at a high school last summer. They almost beat the Packers with Moore too.

Rodgers is not Rodgers anymore and Kirk Cousins sucks. Mahomes is in a different universe than those guys at this point.

Is it not impressive to make it to go 12-4, get the 2 seed, and make it to the playoffs without putting together a complete game?

I think we still haven’t seen the Chiefs at their best this year.

Re-watch Sunday's game.

That was pretty !@#$ing close to their best.

They're peaking at the right time.

Bad things happen in games - muffed punts, blocked kicks, broken plays...We've got a guy that has proven he can score points fast, come back and win...

We've got a D that has proven it can make the proper adjustments and tighten up...and not gas out.

You can cling to "oh no things went wrong in the 1st Q" but if you dont think things can go wrong for SF then your and idiot. ****ing genious. It is mind bogglingly stupid to look at what the chiefs have done and focus only on the muffed punt, broken play, blocked punt and cherry pick the bad stuff. They scored like 7 straight TD's. Then...The titans hadn't even kicked FG in 4 weeks because henry was beasting...and they stopped him. 9 yards or something in the second half.

You're so "confident" you pussies are making accounts on a KC message board crying and trying to convince yourselves you are gonna have an EZ win.

Its not going to be easy. The chiefs are going to be a tough out, kiddo.

Outstanding breakdown of the Chiefs offense vs the Niners defense and how Mahomes has seen this defense a ton of times already.

There were still several mental mistakes though: dumb defensive penalties, an early drop or two, the fake punt...

This is all a good sign for the Chiefs. If they play relatively mistake-free, they’ll destroy anyone.

Didn't they just run straight at Dee Ford last year?

We've both had "cushy" roads to the Super Bowl. 49ers beat up on a perennial underperforming team in the Vikings and Kirk Cousins, then beat up on an overrated Packers team with an aging Aaron Rogers, both at home. We beat up on an underwhelming Texans team with Bill O'Brien being the biggest weakness on that team, and then we beat up on an over-performing Titans team that was running on fumes with Ryan Tannehill finally coming back down to earth.

The matchup similarities are very similar but I'll take our offense winning in a shootout over their offense anyday of the week. Their defense will make some big plays, but as long as we don't beat ourselves, we should come out on top. I'm betting that Andy is pushing penalties and ball security this week.

You guys really gotta stop feeding the trolls. It's no wonder some of them have over 100 posts.

Running at Ford is a no brainer, plus he has hammy and groin injuries (noone is surprised by that.)

I'm just worried about Reid playing Reidball in the second half and taking his foot off the gas. Hopefully he just keeps slinging it the whole game. I don't think running D. Will into their Dline and linebackers will be effective at all and kill any clock.

Just play smart, and close, don't get stupid penalties costing us yards to defend. Cover each man and don't give them any extra space.

Don't have to in order to beat these running teams.

Just have to outscore them.

Dumbass.

No one ever said the Chiefs weren't impressive. At the beginning of the season I picked the Chiefs to be here.

But people on this forum have a problem. Calmly saying we think our team is going to win gets virtiol in return.

The discussion is about whether or not your defense has been playing "lights out" not whether or not you won.
