****Our Wide Receivers Suck- Official Thread****

They can’t get open, they drop passes in their hands, their jet sweeps are slow and terrible. These guys are not good.

He wasn't barking about him not coming back to the ball. He was barking at him for running a terrible route. He rounded off his cut and kept fading deeper away from the line of scrimmage which made the throw short and allowed the defender to make a play on the ball. It was an absolutely horrible route and is a major reason why Skyy is not being targeted more. He just doesn't understand how precise this offense is and that he has to run the routes with absolute precision.

Probably so.

Then coach them up or take them off the field.

If Mahomes needs this level of an OL (it's a top 3 OL in the league, seriously, watch some other teams OL's), this type of defense (again, it's a top 8 unit in the league,) and we need to go pay big time known entities at WR........well.
It’s kinda surprising this is the hill you want to die on. He’s carried average OLs before but obviously he can’t carry the disaster we saw vs Tampa. He’s carried plenty of bad defenses over the years so that’s not even up for discussion. He can carry average WRs but that doesn’t mean he should be expected to carry bad ones.

It’s not about dropped passes. Rashee drops the most and yet mahomes trusts him. Our WRs need to win more consistently, hit the right spots and demonstrate they can catch contested passes

If the Chiefs are going to win this year, it's going to have to be on defense. Besides Kelce and Pacheco, Mahomes doesn't have enough weapons. The offense is good enough to get it done, but the D is lights out.

The greatest QB of his generation, who is responsible for this entire golden age of Chiefs football, is not to blame for the failings of a JAG wide receiver corp.

He's carried bad defenses.....and lost in the AFC champ game. So they seemed to figure "hey, lets improve the defense to the level we need because when it's been good, we've won 2 SBs".

He's always had a good OL, save for a few games in 2020.

I don't have a problem with paying to overload an offense. Go for it. Makes sense to me.

But everyone needs to realize that by doing that, you're gonna sacrifice somewhere and have to either have young cheap draft picks play there or cheap players.

What we see and evaluate in real time is probably like 25% of the story... we guess the other 75% and then extrapolate those guesses into dying on hills like we know exactly what the **** is going on.

We don't know the gameplan or the Jet's gameplan or the adjustments, and then we get a fairly small sample size of issues game to game with all the difference variables.

It comes down to 30k foot.... this shit takes time. It took time in 2021. And sometimes, as much as we hate it, we should tip our cap to the other team for creating confusion and mistakes, etc.

Mahomes isn't perfect. He gets frustrated at times and probably even fooled every once in a while. If every decision you made included 300+ pounds dudes wanting nothing more than to put you on the ground within a handful of seconds, your life would probably be a bit chaotic at times, too. Processing all of that at an elite level every week, plus dealing with new receivers and linemen and defensive adjustments, doesn't mean he'll ever be perfect at it.

I'm assuming they're working Toney back in slowly but surely from the injuries, but it's just blatantly obvious that he's the best guy with the ball in his hands.

Similar with Rashee.

But right now most have a reasonable expectation that all we need is middling. If we so much as replace juju, which isn’t a high bar, that may be all you need to be adequate enough. And good chance rashee is that guy. But you can’t put it on mahomes when until that happens our WRs have played flat out badly. If he can’t carry middling WRs, ok… let’s examine that. But right now they’re playing like a bottom 5 unit.

Someone needs to start eating into Moore's snaps at this point, I just don't see anyone on the roster that might.

He's not good, fellas.

The route running is just so damn lazy. And he does it all the time. The focus seems to come and go as well.

At this point the kid's looking like Hardman without the top gear. I just don't know what else you can do with him. How does he round a quick-out? These are high school level concepts he's ****ing up. It's so maddening.

I'm as big of a Mahomes guy as anyone, but the whole "he has to trust them thing" needs to die. He needs to not lock on to certain reads and be decisive and throw the football. The whole "hold on to it and run around" shit just needs to end. You can't run an efficient offense that way.

The first quarter, when he's being confident and throwing the ball on time, guys are open. Yet later when he's holding on to it it's because guys aren't open?

Nah.

Other dudes across the league are standing in and throwing the football to guys. Our guy should do that too.
How many times last night did you see Mahomes standing in the pocket on hopping on his toes going through his progressions several times looking for a receiver to get open before taking off and running with the ball, getting pressured into throwing the ball away, or taking a sack? Mahomes didn't play his best game last night, but blaming the 2-time MVP QB for and stating "it's the QB" might be the dumbest thing posted in this thread.

The offense needs to identify the top 3 WRs and let them play the majority of the snaps. Personally I think that is Toney, Rice, and MVS. Let Skyy, Watson, and Ross come in for 4-5 WR sets or to give the others a break when they are gassed. The offense needs to build chemistry between the WR and QB and that isn't going to happen with guys running in and out of the game.

I agree with the Moore part.

The other part? Maybe. Maybe not.

Guys were open early and often in the first quarter as they just mowed up and down the field. Then.....just not so much?

The talent with Toney (and Rice) is obvious. Get them out there and get them the ball alot. Enough with the other shit birds.

Let MVS and Watson stretch the field I guess.

Go trade our first round pick for DJ Moore and be done with it.

You think it's more likely Mahomes just suddenly stopped seeing them open?
