****Our Wide Receivers Suck- Official Thread****

They can’t get open, they drop passes in their hands, their jet sweeps are slow and terrible. These guys are not good.

The first quarter, when he's being confident and throwing the ball on time, guys are open. Yet later when he's holding on to it it's because guys aren't open?

Nah.

Other dudes across the league are standing in and throwing the football to guys. Our guy should do that too.
It’s almost as if a great defense is going to find ways to adjust to an offense that avoids WRs for an entire half. Mahomes lost confidence when they neutralized kelce. Guys get open but not consistent enough for him to trust them. we are struggling to catch the passes that hit their hands, while other QBs have options where they can chuck it within 2 area codes and the wr will find a way to get it. So when WRs can’t be relied on to hit their spots or find a way to get to the ball, he will usually resort to staring too long or bailing too early.

Mahomes obviously needs to get better. But how can you put this mostly on a qb who is being asked to carry 200x his weight? Right now our WRs are bottom 10 and arguably borderline bottom 5 in the league. I’m not saying that doesn’t improve substantially throughout the season or that we can’t make it work simply by finally finding a juju backfill. But that is the current reality

Most of the game Mahomes had to speed up his clock and WR's had no time to even run a route bc of the Jets pass rush.

Wanna bitch about someone? Bitch about Trey Smith bc once again the guy got his ass kicked in pass protection.

Because, as has been explained multiple times, he makes 20% of the salary cap. Yeah, he's gonna have to pull 20% of the roster weight if that's the way this is gonna go.

It seems the Chiefs are the only team that has "wr's that don't hit their spots" consistently, it's weird. Almost like it's not actually the case and it may be something else.

Some column A, some column B. It's not been vintage Mahomes, some of it looks like it's on him. But some of it was DBs flat outperforming our WRs.

Also, guys drop passes. Shit happens. It's football. You don't stop throwing them the football when it does happen.

If Mahomes needs this level of an OL (it's a top 3 OL in the league, seriously, watch some other teams OL's), this type of defense (again, it's a top 8 unit in the league,) and we need to go pay big time known entities at WR........well.

This is the same shit no one wanted to pay Chris Jones for.

In the end, it's all about value and what you get. When you pay a guy whatever you pay him, you have to get that net amount of value for it to make sense because it's taking away money and value at another spot.

But this just is what it is. You want to be paid this much per year in a capped league, you've gotta rob Peter to pay Paul somewhere.

WRs don't just grow on trees though, it's not a given that an elite WR will be available for KC to sign. We sure as hell know they can't scout them either, so KC is really in between a rock and a hard place when it comes to finding offensive talent.

No qb should be expected to carry a bottom 5 unit. If we’re being reasonable and cap is an obstacle then middle of the road is fine. And most acknowledged it’s probably good enough. That shouldn’t be some crazy expectation just because we have an expensive qb. We did that last year.

Really? That surprises you that most teams, who have a legit Wr1 and most also having WR2, have WRs who more consistently hit their spots? Skyy is legit missing spots. Mvs makes very inconsistent adjustments to the ball. Watch how rashee runs his routes vs everyone else - he drops passes but he is hitting his spots and making subtle route adjustments our other WRs usually don’t.

mahomes gotta be better, but cmon… our WRs while they can and likely will get better have been mostly bad so far.

I liked that they switched to quick strikes on the field goal drive. All those stunts the jets were running, they neutralized that by throwing quick. It worked for that drive until they got into a second and long, but it was a needed change to get the jets out of their attack.

Ok, so spot adjustments against certain coverages is what we're talking about here? I'm guessing you're just saying that because of the first 3rd down of the game where Mahomes barking at Skyy for not coming back to the ball on a speed out?

Pat throws two terrible picks last night, on touch passes and being overly aggressive trying to fit it in to Kelce.

Almost falls down with his footwork in the pocket on the play Pachecho takes a check down for 35 yards.

Hits two other defenders in the hands with it and gets bailed out.

And we have everyone here wanting to place blame on the WR's.

Mahomes won us the game...again...with big plays despite making mistakes. Yeah I'm pretty sure he's worth what we're paying..

Absolutely. I fully agree with that.

He also wouldn't have had to make said big plays had he not thrown the ball to the Jets like he did, but that's the way football goes.
