You're not getting it. I don't want to bring in a vet to start. I just want to rent a vet for a year. I want the rookie to play.

If all you're doing is buying time for 1/2 a season... you have that with Trevor. Why spend big $ on a journeyman turd to play QB for 1/2 a season or so?

I really hope that the Donks draft a quarterback. I hope that they trade up for the guy they want. Then, I hope that he becomes the next Jamarcus Russell, Ryan Leaf, or whatever spectacular bust quarterback, thereby setting the Donks back even farther. I'm all for a competitive division. But not the Donks. Those cheaters can dwell in the pit of misery forvever.

Yeah, a QB with a career record of 23-50 is going to inspire a rookie QB to follow his example.

I'd prefer to trade away Trevor and stick with the rookie, Paxton, and Kelly. The Broncos seem to be dead set on bringing in a vet though, and McCown looks like the best option if you want a cheap mentor.

I would laugh my ass off if Broncos drafted Josh Allen.

Give me one example of Josh McCown being a successful mentor. You seem to have the impression that just being a long tenured vet makes you a good mentor.

Bradford, Bridgewater, and Keenum are more likely to be focused on themselves and their career, not helping a rookie. |

Again, what does McCown even offer in terms of leadership for a rookie in the first place? The ability to win games? He's 23-50. He doesn't play with an ego? I'd ****ing hope not, he ranges from below average to outright terrible. The only thing McCown could teach a rookie is the ability to hold onto an NFL job even if he busts out.

He can give them encouragement, advice, and a positive example to follow though. You can't guarantee that a different vet would do the same. |

9 News Denver's Mike Klis reports the Broncos are "interested in" free agent Case Keenum.
Keenum would obviously be a secondary option to Kirk Cousins when free agency opens, but with Cousins possibly leaning toward signing with the Vikings, teams need to be making contingency plans. Klis doesn't know if Keenum is the Broncos' "Plan B" after Cousins, but he does believe Denver is interested in Keenum. There's a connection in Denver, with Gary Kubiak as senior personnel advisor to GM John Elway. Kubiak gave Keenum his NFL start with the Texans and spoke highly of Keenum in January. Keenum could land $16-20 million per year. Please yes. |
