Hey, does anyone know why he didn't run the 40 at the combine or at his pro day?

Does he have a lingering injury?

Also, I am NOT saying that FAU is going to be TJ Watt, but when I was watching the highlights in the OP, I kept thinking that they looked similar to each other. So, I looked up their NFL Prospect profiles, and yeah, they have some similarities.

There were rumors Anudike-Uzomah may not be at full health. He was excused from testing at the Combine due to a right foot injury, and there was chatter at the pro day that he was struggling with a groin issue, though I’ve not confirmed that is the exact injury.

Im good with FAU and he was realistically one of the picks we expected, its just thinking for a little bit that Murphy, Nolan Smith, Mazi Smith, Anton Harrison, Bresee were all there. Hell at pick 19 it looked like a different draft for us, it was falling perfectly.

Hearing Veach say that they had 16-18 first rounders and FAU was one of them, makes me feel much better. They really liked him and thats great to hear.
We see this on this board every time a local kid from KU/MU/KSU might be or is drafted by the Chiefs and it usually has no place in reality. I remember the board when Talib was projected as a first round pick and everyone was just like "KU sucks and had a lucky season Talib sucks huge bust". And then he was taken in the first round and had a very nice career with 2 all pro teams. It's almost like scouts from Seattle or New York or Mel Kiper don't have bias about college teams because they cheer for someone else.

Here's the facts: ESPN ranked Manzi, Bresee, and Harrison all lower than FAU. We tried to trade up and who knows maybe they would have taken Murphy if they did. Regardless, ESPN and PFF had him at 32nd best player. SI had him at 39. He was taken well within the range of variance where he was ranked. People need to stop with the "Chiefs are homers and wanted to stay at 31 so they could have a big celebration and draft a home town guy who was a huge reach for feels", as if fans celebrating two super bowls in 4 years with the greatest QB of all time really need to see another local player on the team before they buy a ticket to arrowhead.

This is a good, solid, B+ type pick, and when you pick last, that's about all you can realistically expect.

Super productive player at a position of need (and a premium salary position, so you're cost controlled with him and George for the next several years), and still just 21. So that means he was putting up numbers at 19 and 20 against future NFL players.

The pass rush looks really, really good right now, and that's a great thing. If you're going young (and as most of you have been harping UNPROVEN) at WR, then having an excellent defense is a hell of a cushion.

Do you believe him?

I don't think I do. That sounds like standard draft day puffery.

He said they use a model that excludes QB’s and couple other (unmentioned) variables.

So they use BPA + Need for their board, which is smart.

Bascially, there are quite a few guys I would've taken had they fallen, but he was my BPA (outside of Porter Jr.)
It's funny - you're the Felix Guy and I'll end up being seen as the anti-felix guy but I'll bet you and I see him almost identically as a player.

I think you see a little more burst than I do but still wouldn't consider him a 'twitchy' player. I think we both agree that he plays stronger than his size but he's not Foskey or White in terms of play strength.

He's a fairly chalky player. I don't think we got any sort of amazing value (I don't think you do either) but I think we took a solid guy who wouldn't have been available past 40 or so at a position where we want to keep layering talent.

It's...fine. B- outcome after it looked like A/A+ was on the table an hour previous to the the pick. It's neither brilliant nor stupid. It was a little more need based than I'd have expected as it's hard for me to believe that he graded higher in a vacuum than Porter or Branch, but they also clearly like him as a talent as they had him ahead of Foskey and White.

Ultimately I don't see much to be irritated or amazed by. It's just a fairly standard pick and ultimately development will determine how it ends up.

I think he also said 'right there with those guys' before talking about how everyone gets really bunched up in that late 1st/early 2nd area.

I don't get the impression they were looking to trade up for him is ultimately my conclusion. They lost quite a few guess they liked in that 6-8 pick bloodbath through the 20s, IMO.
