At this point, if you're Garcia, do you trust ANYTHING the Cardinals medical staff has to say?

This is the same medical staff that all but exorcised him from team activities after he decided to get thoracic outlet surgery. Nevermind the fact that he fought the same shit for 3 years - the team was absolutely livid when he took pro-active measures to get it resolved.

And suddenly, after recovering from the procedure, the guy is as good as he's ever been. His story is startlingly similar to Lohse's and yet the Cards were still angry when he went the same route that saved Lohse's career.

If I'm Garcia and my left arm literally fell off, I'd go out there and throw with my right just to see how long it takes for them to figure it out.

I don't think the Cards med staff is any worse than average. I do think, however, that Jaime Garcia is well within his rights to tell the Cards and their medical staff to shove it, especially given the way the org. has handled his various maladies to this point.

Garcia has been lights out this year. Props to him, I didn't think we'd even see him in 7 games much less 7 the way he has pitched.

Gonzalez is nowhere near the pitcher that Garcia is. There's a good chance that Gonzalez will never approach being as good as Garcia is. Garcia going down for an extended period of time would hurt this team just as badly as Lynn dropping.

Just because we don't trust him to stay healthy doesn't mean we should overlook just how good he can be when he is. Fortunately it sounds like he just suffered cramps and we'll get him back next time out.

The dude has some serious shit. If the Cardinals hope to win a WS, Jaime Garcia will absolutely have to play a key role in it. Garcia can be a top half of the rotation starter and to make up for the loss of a guy like Wainwright, the Cards will simply need to get lucky with him and get a full season.
He is often overlooked due to the inconsistent health issues, but there is no doubt that when he is on he can handle about any lineup. His 2011 game 2 of the series was him at his best, 0 runs 3 hits 7 ks and 1 walk.

He is one of the few pitchers in the entire game that can make a ball run to all four quadrants of the strike zone; it's how he gets so much soft contact. He can 'tunnel' his pitches and yet they can end up in 4 different spots. He's also a damn ground ball machine; he reminds you a lot of the days of Duncan and crew.

I'd love to see him stay in STL but I doubt we pick up his option this off-season. Frankly, at only an additional $11 million to pick it up vs. buy him out, if he can give us 150 innings, I'd pick up the option.

After Lohse got his thoracic outlet surgery, he was right back to being the guy that earned the extension to begin with. It's possible, though unlikely, that the surgery did the same for Garcia and if so, he'd be a steal on his next 2 option years.

I just think stuff is unique in baseball and really does rival some of the better lefties in the game.

Absolutely pick up the option. He can give you (if healthy) everything you're gonna overpay a free agent for this offseason

Not like someone is better. Oh wellll we had him on the mound longer than I thought he would last before he was inhured again.

I agree when Garcia is on, he is a top of the staff talent. His early years were plagued by his inability to look past an error or a bad ump call and he lost his composure, then he had the injuries.

Hell if he pitches like he has the last 4 games, he's a ****ing All-Star. If he stays healthy, pitches like this the rest of the year, his $11 million option would be cheap.

GD Kozma is in the lineup. That just pisses me off more than it should. But still

This team is fairly incredible. The pitching is absurd and they score enough runs about 66% of the time.
