The season is upon us, even if spring is not.

2018 MLB Draft Picks
#18
#33 - Compensation (Eric Hosmer)
#34 - Compensation (Lorenzo Cain)
#40 (Competitive Balance Round A)

018 Draft Names to Watch

RHP Kumar Rocker, N Oconnee HS, Georgia.
Spoiler!

OF Jarred Kelenic, Waukasha West HS, WI
Spoiler!

1B Triston Casas, American Heritage HS (FL).
Spoiler!

RHP Carter Stewart, Eau de Gallie HS (Ga).
Spoiler!

ANY Any, Any (Any). Any current top projected pick who slides for injury concerns. Includes current top prospect prospect SP Brady Singer, U of Florida.

Current Prospects to Watch:

OF Seuly Matias - Huge tools. Hit 2 HR in Lexington (A) season opener.

1B Nick Pratto - Top pick in 17 has advanced approach and good glove; needs to start tapping into power in first full year in minors. Also at Lexington.

OF Michael Gigliotti - Good defender in CF, good OBP skills, plus baserunner. Next mainstay in CF for KC, IMO. Advanced college bat also starting at Lexington.

OF Khalil Lee - Probably has highest upside in Royals' system. Could hit 30 HR in majors, could steal 30 bases. Plus defensive ability in RF. Nice test at Wilmington this year.

3B Emmanuel Rivera - Really nice approach and good contact skills. Power is still developing. Also getting a good test at Wilmington.

SP Foster Griffin - Made nice strides in 2017. Needs to continue to progress in 2018. Could be a lefty version of Jakob Junis (good breaking ball that he can really manipulate, OK fastball, good command).

1B Samir Duenez - Duenez still is intriguing, hoping for a step forward in his power production this year at Northwest Arkansas, which would turn him into a legit prospect.

Others to keep an eye on:
SP Gerson Garabito (Wilmington), OF Marten Gasparini (Lexington), C MJ Melendez (Lexington), RP Tyler Zuber (lexington), RP Richard Lovelady (Omaha), SP Dan Tillo (Lexington), SS Nicky Lopez (NWA), SP Scott Blewett (NWA), OF Brewer Hicklen (Idaho Falls),

In general, Lexington and Wilmington are the most interesting spots to watch. Nice depth and a lot of interesting pieces at both.

I certainly wouldn't either, but I am willing to admit I don't know the facts enough to truly pass judgement. If he did in fact do it, then **** him.

Of course, it's the American way nowadays to become outraged right away before knowing the truth.

I would like to think I wouldn’t plead if I was innocent either, but I’ve never been a terrified 15 year old in that situation.

There’s a reason wealthy people/corporations settle out of court all the time...even when they’re in the right. It’s a lot easier and cheaper.

I could definitely see where a 15 year old wouldn’t have the foresight to see this sticking with him forever if pleading is the advice he’s getting.

This is a fair point. I would then amend my original statement to also include I would have a long heart to heart with my 15 year old son. If he proclaimed his innocence, and I believed him, I would advise him to defend his innocence until his dying day and I would be right along side him. I also can appreciate that this is a hypothetical and obviously I don't have all the facts. That's why I lead off with pointing out that I don't have strong feelings either way.

I really just don't understand what people want, dude does everything he asked to do by a court. Is no longer a registered sex offender, is not prohibited from being around kids, nothing no restriction.

Whether you believe him or not, he maintains innocence through the whole thing, through all therapy and everything. And I get the whole then why did he plead guilty thing...well you know when you're 15 and your family is telling you to do something and they likely aren't rolling in the cash...and a lawyer tells you that..what are you gonna do? He's not an adult that understands all this shit at the time...

Everyone needs to take a big dose if relaxation on this one, this isn't some serial child molester, this a case with a lot of doubt around it. The first allegation of this comes from the childs mom who from reading around the net appears to be a total whack job.

So? That's not his fault that people can't teach their kids not to look up to athletes.

And also, its not like kids are going to look him up and say "Wow, he molested a kid! I'm going to do that too now!". So the whole kids up to him doesn't mean anything there either.

I see Herrera is eligible as a SS in yahoo fantasy. Did he come to us from the Reds playing infield? If so, is there potential there or do we assume his defense would be a liability in the infield? Seems to me, if we could get that kind of offensive production at the shortstop position it might be worth trying out

Woman charged, accused of breaking into home of Royals pitcher Danny Duffy

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -
Court documents show a woman broke into Kansas City Royals star Danny Duffy's home last Saturday.

Tabytha C. Yeary has been charged with second-degree burglary in connection.

Documents state that Duffy was away and got a notification from a Ring surveillance system.

Duffy watched the video feed as an unknown woman walked around inside his home.

When police arrived, they found the woman walking down the stairs in Duffy's clothing. The woman told police she thought his home was an Airbnb.

Records also state she later told police her fiance was Elon Musk, but "it was not the same Elon Musk that we have seen."

Police discovered a Playstation 4 controller inside the woman's purse.

Question: Shouldn't we be hearing more about international free agency? The signing period starts next Monday, and we are finally out of the penalty phase for going over our signing limit. So, I'd think we'd try be competitive with the IFA signings. But I've read nothing about any prospects being connected to the Royals.
