I think Nagy (and yes, Andy) can get a little up their own asses at times in the technical side of plays. I think they 'nerd out' for lack of a better term and get far more focused on the drawing/scheming of plays than they do hammering the discipline in executing them. Why wouldn't they? They're football geeks - it's exactly what I'd do if I had their kind of ability to do what they do. I'd get lost in the minutiae. I think EB is a nice balance in that he's going to be in their ear. "okay, cute ring-round-the-rosey fellas - now how 'bout you execute a simple ****ing down block this time!" I'd welcome him back. |

I’m fine with him coming back but I’m not sure if he would take less than OC. |

Move Pinkston to WR coach and EB back to RB coach with Assistant HC title?
Edit: forgot Toub already has that title |

Ha, I think you posted that while I was typing my reply out. I missed it.
I think we recognize that HERE. I was meaning more the national analysts aren't looking at that. Quote:
And the work the 49ers have done this year doesn't change that. If the 49ers sit in base against 12 and 13 sets and try to zone up against KC, it's going to end very poorly for them. But I expect they will do that until its just too late (and they don't have the personnel to man up and handle Kelce and Rice). |

It’s pretty funny how teams we keep beating are getting robbed of OCs , DCs and position coaches and other teams either don’t want our guys or maybe our guys don’t want to o leave but I kind of like it

I don't have an answer. I mean I don't think Nagy did anything this season to establish himself as bulletproof in the role. But I also don't think he did anything 'fireable'. Moreover, I don't know that titles really matter on Andy's staff that much. He's calling plays (I don't really care what he says) and the rest of them work collaboratively. It's a question of pure pride - Nagy and EBs. Will either guy be wiling to take on a subordinate role knowing full well that they're probably going to be co-equals in practice, if not in name? That's awfully hard to say. I still think that when it comes to assistant coaches, money talks. These guys aren't independently wealthy. If EB can get $200K more/yr by being a RBs coach here vs. being an OC somewhere else (NFL or college) - I think he'll take the money and swallow the pride. It's a lot of dough for these guys. It's why I don't usually understand the "he shouldn't take that job, it's a career killer" talk. If I'm an OC making $800K/season on the high end and someone offers me a job making $5 million/yr on a 5 year guaranteed deal - i'm taking it. Dead end job or not, I'm $20 million richer for going to Carolina and getting my teeth kicked in. I'm truly set for life. Or I can spin the wheel and end up like Kellen Moore. He went from big shit coaching prospect to bouncing around 3 different teams in 3 years over the course of a single season. Don't miss your window. If you can get the bag - even as a coach - go get it. |

Bieniemy is probably gonna have to be a positional coach again. He doesn't exactly have leverage.
IIRC only the Raiders had interest in Bieniemy as OC but that went never materialized. |

He could come back in the same type of role that Childress filled once upon a s time. Offensive consultant/special assistant to the head coach.

And the good news for EB, perhaps a carrot for him, is that the offense lagged a bit this year. And I think Veach fully intends to invest heavily in the offense this draft. If EB comes back and the defense recovers nicely, that's a really good little selling point on his (likely quixotic) quest to become a HC someday. |
