The biggest problem we will likely have in rural communities is the higher rate of elderly IMO.

yeah, they may be poor, but I’d think they were getting treatment through Medicaid or Medicare.

That's a good thing
I know this has been discussed over and over, and I get why not overwhelming the hospitals is a good thing, but I personally cannot find a way to get super-excited about what seems to be just delaying the inevitable. We are all just hiding away waiting for the scientists to come up with some form of treatment.

It seems this clamor to flatten the curve has provided some excitement when the curve does flatten, but that's so far from solving the actual problem that the excitement seems misplaced.

Yep, doesn't matter how much it flattens if we all go back to pre-covid and infections erupt again.

Well and the thing is the DHSS website is behind other sites like covidly and worldomoters when it comes to death count. I didn't discover that until yesterday during the press briefing. I have no idea why a place like covidly or worldomoters would have more up to date information than the DHSS, but they seemingly do.

For example right now the DHSS website says 77 deaths
Covidly says 65
Worldomoters says 85
John Hopkins says 93

So Idk.

Best moments for me in 2020 thus far...

1) Watching the Chiefs win the Super Bowl.

2) Walking into a local Target today and finding this...

I haven't been keeping up since yesterday's activity here turned into a shit show. Was there an article or study posted that connects poverty and COVID-19 deaths?

Yeah that doesn't make any sense. Seems odd...

Then again DHSS only updates their site once a day so maybe that is it.

its common sense. The poor have worse health care. Don’t take care of them self’s as well as others with better resources. They usually make worse choices in life. Eat less healthy food and so on and so on. Almost 70% of the dead in NYC are minorities.

I don't think its anything other than the obvious. Poor people can't just stay home, and they likely don't have the best health insurance if any at all...not only to battle COVID if they get it, but to have been proactively treating the underlying conditions that make it fatal.
