Mad Men

Season 4 premiered tonight. I would have bumped the season three thread but I titled it "season 3," which no longer seems appropriate.

Who saw it? It was a stupendous hour of television. All sorts of shit has happened in the eleven months that have passed (in-story) between the formation of Sterling Cooper Draper Price and the beginning of season 4. The premeir was stepped in the juices of the sexual revolution. It also had a lot to say about the increasing role of the media in the success or failure of things. It was great to see Don fail a little bit, and it was exciting to consider the future implications at the end of Don crafting a public/media persona that is completely unlike his actual personality.

Can't believe neither Hamm or Moss won for their performance in "The Suitcase." Although I have to say that if Hamm couldn't win for any season, there are no 2 better people to lose to than Bryan Cranston and Kyle Chandler. Both have pulled off absolutely the most amazing portrayals of their characters. I don't really think I can see either actor in any role ever again without automatically thinking about Walter White / Eric Taylor.

The same can be said with Hamm. I am pretty confident that Mad Men season 5 will bring the heat and that Hamm will finally win his Emmy for his portrayal of Don Draper. Bryan Cranston has been absolutely lights out this season too, but I think that it's time for Hamm to get his.

I am almost certain that Aaron Paul will win the Emmy next year too. You can choose from any number of "Breaking Bad" episodes this season and pick a winner with him. He's such an amazing actor.

If I had to suggest one episode for someone to watch to see if they liked it or not it would be "The Grown-Ups." S03E12

It's not the best episode, but it's damn good.

Don't want to give away the best episodes before you watch.

I watched the whole series and this video still confuses me. Regardless, I'm making my wife watch it so she can catch up for tonight.

ugh. I hate the existence of these things. Mad Men isn't great because of its plot.

I'm an ad exec and my wife has never done the zoobie zoobie zoo song/dance for me. That "bean ballet" meeting struck very close to home, though.
