Of course it’s a big deal… what it is not is a new phenomenon.

See Hurricane Andrew.

Here’s something I got in a notification about evacuating…….

Florida says if you can't get out of a mandatory evacuation area, write your personal info on your arm so they can identify the body.

What's the contingency plan if you have no arms, or they are ripped off in the hurricane?

yep, Anna Marie looks to be a direct hit. We love that town. It has that Key West feel to it. White soft sand beaches. Really cool and unique shops.

It's flat there. That'll be huge loss to see it take a direct hit.

I love the be sitting on the top floor of a 20 something story hotel right off the beach with a birds eye view watching a CAT 5 slowly come into view. I'd demand bullet proof glass and a generator but boy would that be a once in a lifetime experience.

Must be a bunch of bird food being washed onto shore for that kind of gathering in such weather.

Yeah, those tall condo buildings(if built in the late 90’s or newer) are the best places to ride out a hurricane. They have to be rated to withstand a Cat5 or they don’t get built over a certain height.

I have seen anyone say it's a new phenomenon. Most people are aware that category 4 and 5 hurricanes existed prior to Milton.

Is that normal for the water to recede like that?

When I was looking at this feed earlier the "shore line" was much further inland.
