Milkman, you're wrong.

He became an insufferable twat. And it wasn't just here and there, it was everywhere and in every thread.

He knew it, too, and dared the Mods into action.

Pretending that he was just opinionated is incorrect.

I know what he became, but he still did nothing that was actionable.

I am not defending him.

I just can not support the actions of the mods.

They place player success above team success.
Disagree. They are more passionate about 'their player' being credited for his part in the team success, but that's a different matter.

If they were here saying 'so what if the team sucks [if it happened to suck]. Alex is getting rich, and he'll soon be on a better team,' THAT would be putting the player above the team.

Seems more like they're enjoying the team, with a soft spot in their assessment for the guy who drew them here.

So how long a leash were you planning on giving your 'everyone ignore him and he'll stop' plan before conceding failure?

5 years? 10?

And again, FTR. I'm not 'supporting' the decision of the mods. I'm just not crying about it in this instance. As others have said, he had evolved into a poster determined to foment irritation and discord as his primary reason for being here.

LOL at the butthurt over 49ers fans following Alex.

FTR, they followed the right guy.

I can't even imagine how some of you would have reacted in 1993, 1994 and 1997.

Bad decision to ban him IMO.

Or m.u. him or whatever....

If I was in charge I would make a sticky with instructions on how to ignore, even with grease monkey...and make everyone use ignore if people bother them.

It's a shame really. A turning point in my time here. I'm not sold that it's for the better to ban people . He was an icon and a vocal few were able to shut him down I stead of using ignore. Sad....

This is a privately owned site that can decide to ban anyone for any reason. There is no right to post here, and no one is abusing power.

This is the lightest moderated forum I belong to, so I don't see the problem. Clay had become a nuisance that ruined every thread he was in.

I think banning him and anyone else will do far more harm t han instructing your whiny users on how to use ignore.

The open non censorship is the reason most end up here, take that away and you're no better than the rest.

An informative post , stickies, about how to REALLY ignore people would be best for long term and maintaining freedom & burst.
