He is no doubt a good coach. I still wonder if he’s cut for a long term career in the nfl. In college you can rotate your guys every few years. He will need to be Herbert’s mentor for presumably 5-10 years.

He sounds insufferable to play for and SF didn’t seem as upset as they should’ve been when they lost him. Maybe he’s softened a bit. But seems like the first time his Michigan players ran through a wall for him was because he loudly defended them from a controversy he himself created.

Remember when Marty went 14-2 and they fired him? Should be interesting to see how much leeway Harbaugh gets.

Highest win % of any coach with Alex Smith and Kapernick as his QB's. That was also with one of the best teams of the 2010's in his division.

He's a damn good coach

Not saying he's not. So is DP.

Cool. He had success with Smith/Kaepernick and Fangio's elite defense, which led to winning nothing of significance.

DP won a SB with a backup QB.

To say that Harbaugh has a higher ceiling is baseless.

Mike McCarthy won a Sb too though.

The farther we get from Doug's SB win, the more it's looking a bit flukey.

I didn't realize he is 60 years old. Makes sense though considering how long it's been since he played.

Yup. He's very similar to Nagy for me. But he had Wentz (before the injury) and Trevor Lawrence while Nagy had Trubisky and Fields aka pure shit

There's a reason college guys either don't work out at all, or don't work out for long

Not saying he isn't a great football coach, he is, but he can't be the same guy he was in SF or... it'll end the same way

Are we seriously comparing winning a SB with Aaron ****ing Rodgers to winning one with Nick Foles?

The Jags had a rough year, but he literally turned the worst team in the NFL into a playoff team year 1.

Pederson is MUCH closer to Harbaugh than ****ing Nagy. What an awful take.

I can actually finally believe in the Chargers hype now.

Was hoping they'd hire Jim Haslett or Ray Rhodes or something

People are gonna be reminded real quick about how annoying his sideline meltdowns are. It is seriously like a little kid getting a toy taken away from him.

You know what I’m kinda concerned about?

Jim trading Herbert for a pile of picks and developing his own QB and using the picks to help bolster the roster. Herbert is good, and I think Jim will get him to be more focused, driven and effective…even putting him in the conversation of elite QBs…but that contract will limit what Jim can do with the roster.

Division games are going to be a lot more interesting in the coming years, that’s for sure.
