*****The Patrick Mahomes Thread*****

IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

Mahomes with yet another great game in the Total QBR stat box: 76.4, 2nd best of the QBs to play so far this week.

Starting to warm up to that stat because I thought he played pretty well today but the standard box score would make one think otherwise.

Does QBR account for flipping bad field position? Mahomes did this several times today. It's a very underrated part of the game. Easy to go 3 and out from your own 5 yard line and instead he actually turned those into long drives.

I don’t know what all goes into it but a LOT does, and by my eye test it typically lines up well with actual performance. Not always but very often.

He’s #1 in the league and has had a great QBR every game.

One thing I find interesting about Mahomes is that I don't remember him ever leading his receivers into big hits. That's fairly rare in a young QB. Bortles was trying to get a couple of his receivers killed later in this game.

this is only because bortles has alex smith lineage in him...

by lineage i mean the lines the football takes to get to the receiver

Yeah, the eye test says Mahomes was a lot better than Bortles in this game. But the traditional passer rating is not much different. Bortles gave the Chiefs a 21 point swing (AT LEAST) with his turnovers. 4 INT's and a fumble is brutal.

The timing on 3 of those INT's for Bortles could not have been worse for the Jags. Hell, the fumble was terrible too because it was right after Mahomes' interception. Literally killed the Jags momentum right there.

Dungy was giving Mahomes all sorts of lovin' on Football Night in America. Harrison was falling in line with Dungy as well.

Every time I see clips with Erving in them he comes across as a good teammate. He looks like he's really enjoying is time in KC.

On top of all the talent, he seems like a genuinely good kid too. It seems too good to even be true. It's almost as if he's going to make the decades (for a lot of us) of futility at drafting a great QB all worth the wait. And then some.
